Hi
there maybe some problem with ur tvs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd high resolution video(1080p) through its hdmi. may be your tv is not supporting that resolution. connect ps3's component video out to ur tv and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or 1080i, above that resolution ur tv will not support. ur tv is hd ready one, not full hd. ps3 's hdmi out is full hd (1080p).
or try this
connect ur ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ur ps3. change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to ur tv via hdmi. surly u will get the video.
ok

When i hook up my ps3 to an emerson 19 in tv with an hdmi cable it says format not supported

Hi,
LCD Emerson only support screen with a 1440 x 900 720p resolution.
And PS3 has support 1080p or full HD.
You must arrange output HDMI resolution to 1440 x 900 or to 720p.
thanks.

I am trying to hook up my PS3 into my room (Emerson 22 inch flatscreen with HDMI) I am plugging it in with the HDMI cable when it says "Resolution mismatch!" Is that because it was previously on...

This is because your Emerson does not support full HD (unlike your 52").
To fix this:
i) Make sure your PS3 is off (showing red light) ii) Hold down the power button for 5-6 seconds until you've heard two beeps
You should now be able to reset your video options - make sure 1080P is not checked and you should be able to use your PS3 fine with your Emerson.
When you reconnect to your bigger TV, do the same trick with the power button again and turn 1080P back on.

I just bought a used ps3 i hook it up to my emerson hd tv and it shows format not supported , i then hooked it up to my poleroid hd tv and it works fine this all thru the hdmi cable

What are the specs on your emerson, does it support 1080p? Make sure you have the right settings on your ps3. If your emerson supports 720p and 1080i then it will not give you a 1080p picture and you might run into issues.

When I hook my PS3 to my Emerson LC320EM9 B the tv goes blank on the HDMI screen and then says unsupported format. What gives?

Something to do with the resolution, just hold the power button on the ps3 for about 10 - 15 seconds. It won't ruin the PS3, it just sets it to it's default settings.

Hdmi ps3 "not supported format" response

You need to change the PS3 output resolution, start with 480p first, then go up from there, the resolution was too high for the TV to support.

Your TV cannot support 1080p that the PS3 is sending out to the HDMI, try lowering the PS3 resolution. A lot of people have this probelm if you Google the PS3 VIDEO issue.
