Good Day,

The dvd/vcr combo can be hooked up one of two ways. I the TV has yellow/red/white jacks on the back or side, just match up the colors on both sides. Once plugged in you will have to change the source of the TV, to do this you need to press a button on the remote, it can be labeled as input,video1, tv/vcr, or source. However if the TV does not have red white & yellow jacks you have too hook it up using RF.

On the back of the dvd/vcr it should have two coax jacks, on is labeled RF IN the other RF out. Run a cable from RF out directly to the TV. If you have cable or an antennae on the TV now just unplug it and plug it into RF IN on the dvd/vcr.

Hope this helps and good luck

  • Anonymous Jun 30, 2008

If hooked up using RF cables TV needs to be on channel 3 or 4 to get the signal, If using yellow/red/white cables you have to change the input from the remote.

    Just wanted to clarify

    Good Luck again

SOURCE: CONNECTING DVD/VCR TO CABLE BOX & TV ETC

If using 3 color RCA (r/w/y) the red and white is audio and should go into your stereo under video or AUX. The yellow is the only video cable you need, that should go to your TV aux in or video1 or video2. You can also put all 3 colors into the tv and then run another red/white OUT to the stereo AUX in and have stereo sound for whatever you are watching.

Does this machine have a coaxiel cable connection on the back for cable TV?

The DVP3340V does not have a tuner so it doesn't have a coax input. It is meant to be connected to a set top cable or satellite box for recording to the VCR and then to the TV or just connect it to the TV for watching a video.

For details, see the manuals and documentation here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVP3340V/17&scy=us&slg=en

I hope this helps.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

We have a Philips VCR/DVD player DVP3340V/17. According to the manual we have it hooked up correctly but it will not record on VCR or DVD. Help

Here's what's going on with that unit. The DVP3340 records on the vcr side only, not the dvd side. To record on the VCR side, you would have to plug a red, white, and yellow plug from the red, white, and yellow OUT of your cable box to the red, white, and yellow VCR IN of the Philips. The manual, as far as I can see, only shows hookups for playback, not for recording. Good luck!

Depends how you have connected to the TV.

You will need to set your TV to the relevant socket you have connected the DVD/VCR into.

S-Video, Component , composite etc

These will be EXT 1 , EXT 2 or AV 1, AV 2 etc.

DVP3340V/17 DVD/VCR

Well fbyrd95 goodluck. I have checked out the pages they offer for help. You will need to purchase a cable/satellite box to get the channels routed through the vcr. I received one of these for christmas. It is the sorriest excuse for a vcr/dvd combo I have ever seen. If this is bought as a dvd/vcr combo then I would assume that vcr means that it will record. I do not have the receipt or it would be returned. I will never purchase a philips product.

DVP334V cant connect to my LCD TV

  1. Connect the video cable to the players VIDEO (CVBS) OUT (yellow) jack and to the TV's VIDEO IN jack.
  2. Connect the audio cable to the players 'AUDIO LEFT' (white) and 'RIGHT' (red) output and the TV's 'AUDIO LEFT/RIGHT' input jacks.
  3. After it is hooked up, you will need to select the TV’s video input channel that corresponds to the jacks connecting the player to the TV.
    • Press STANDBY-ON to turn on the player.
    • Turn ON the TV.
Note: Video Input selection varies for different brands/models of TVs. Consult the user manual or manufacturer or your TV if none of the below is successful.
      • Press channel 2 on your TV. Then press the channel down button to locate the video input channel. (This channel is usually located between the lowest and highest TV channels.)
        OR
      • For some TVs, there may be a button on the TV’s remote control that accesses the video input channel labeled SOURCE, AV or SELECT.
        OR
      • Select the Video Input Channel from the TV’s on-screen menu system.
