Shut down your laptop and try pressing the center of the keybord just center of your screen firmly gently and then start the system if its ok the display comes back you are having problem with the heat sensor of the display card and not coooling properly .so loosing the display.
BUT if you mean there is a cursor blinking on the screen and dosent have display then your boot devices are configured improperly and so its searching for boot device .
also it happens when usb boot is enable in the bios and any usb device is connnected like flash or usb hard drive try to remove them and restart the pc.

Only BLINKING COLOURS LIKE RED WHITE BLACK

If the problem is with laptop monitor, try restarting the computer. If problem remains, try connecting your laptop to external monitor to see if problem is with laptop monitor or with display adapter.

If picture also like this with external monitor and with laptops own monitor after reboot, possible HW issue can be expected.

Nothing comes on picture blank

Ok
A few things to try
1.) Check the laptop on an external monitor, do you get a picture
2.) Is there power to the laptop from the battery and the charger? Try to see if the charger indicator lamp is blinking green rather than steady green
3.) Can you hear hard drive / fan noises and are there any lights on the laptop?

If the charger is blinking, indicates that power is not making the circuit, check tightness of charging port, if tight, assume fault on motherboard / blown main fuse

If picture on external monitor and not on laptop, assume backlight on screen dead or possibly the inverter

If no noises from HDD or Fan and No lights on laptop, then fault with motherboard

If you do get fan noises etc, but get BLINKING lights on laptop, assume possible fault with graphics chip, repost with details of blinking lights / colour and specific model of laptop

Monitor blinking

Look for bad caps as shown in my pictures:
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Samsung%20203B/

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Green Power light blinking

Check the resolution in the Windows while connected to the old monitor. If greater than 1280 X 1024 and/or the refresh rate exceeds 75 Hz, the monitor may not respond. But you should at least see the BIOS splash when the computer is turned on. If that does not appear, maybe a problem has occurred in the monitor. Another indicator: if you turn the monitor power button off and then back on, you should get some sign of life such as "no signal", or "out of range". If nothing appears, that would indicate some problem within the monitor.

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!
