Guess it's a bearing in the drum, though just my appreciation. If you are not a tech in washing machines, you should call a reapir service to get it dismounted and replaced

IT MAY NOT BE THE BEARINGS U HAVE TO CHECK ALL OTHER ITEMS AS WELL I WOULD LOOK AT THE MOTOR COUPLER IF ITS DIRECT DRIVE. OR A BAD SNUBBER RING, BAD TRANSMISSION SPRING, BAD DRIVE BLOCK, BAD AGITATOR SPLINE ETC.

sounds very like the bearing are gone i am afraid not good news its quite expensive to replace them if your machine is splitable

bearings have gone ,this happens when you over load the machine. cheaper to replace machine??????? but not to replace it with the same or sister companys machine

Finally the washer must be placed with a tilt- use a spirit level- so that all water will drain to the outlet port and thereby there is no residual water remaining.

I have an Amana top loading washing machine.. The machine recently emitted a burning odor and the machine has stopped spinning. when turned to spin cycle there are bumping sounds and it no longer spins. Does this model have a belt which might need replacing or does it have a transmission and does it sound like possibly extensive transmission work. If it is the transmission, is it likely repair costs would be greater than the value of this machine?
