Yea, it may be time to upgrade. To be honest an upgrade may not be even enough. Start considering a whole new system if you want to take advantage of today's media rich environments.
First, I appreciate the details provided in your question. Thanks! The specification of your laptop are fine and enough to run and support Vista. It is true that greater number of processes and CPU usage causes, but normally the machine can handle it well if it gets proper ventilation. Laptop heating issue generally occurs due to fan failure, which may damage the system, if not checked properly. Another cause of overheating is the dust present inside the laptop, which clogs the fan and heatsink. I suggest that you should get you laptop checked by a professional for servicing (if required). I believe immediate action is required to prevent any damage to your machine and data.
Hope it Helps! Let me know if i could be of any further assistance. CreativeTECH
I'd say it has NOTHING to do with how or when you access Yahoo. In fact, anytime you see an extreme jump in CPU usage like yours....you have to consider that you may very well have a TROJAN VIRUS that's hogging up all your memory (among other things viruses do). If you don't have a good anti-virus program, then get one fast. Update all virus definitions, then.......RUN a FULL scan on your pc or laptop! Watch what you find.
press ctrl+shift+esc. Click processes , then select view all processes. Find out which one is using the resources. Then press windows key+ r. Type msconfig. And disable the program.
