DVD video discs may be encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can be played. If your DVD player is from lets say Europe it will not play DVD's from America. More information about DVD region codes can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

I have a Philips BDP2100/05 blu ray dvd player. I have put a dvd in to playand on the screen appears "Invalid Region." how ca I fix this?

You can make the Player to play all-region DVDs [not Blu-ray discs]. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Procedure to make it region-free to many DVD brands are given.

Invalid region When I put a disc in, I get this

This means that the region code on the disk (which determines where it may be played) does not match up with the region of your DVD drive.

Normally the region code can be changed, but only a limited number of times.

Try to make that if you buy a DVD online, it has the correct region code for your player

Get sound and "invalid format" message displayed instead of picture

Could have still been hit by a surge. Take the back off of the TV and look at the main board were you connect your HDMI. See if it is scorched or components that blackened. Also check your DVD player on another set. Your DVD player could be the problem.

Dvd player error message invalid region code

You can not fix this, DVDs are coded in such a way that a for instance a DVD sold in the European market can't be played on a DVD player sold in the USA. You can buy region free DVD players, but they are not sold at the local electronics stores, they are available on eBay I'm told.

Is it possible to change the region code to region 3 so we can watch movies from Thailand? No need to switch back as I have another DVD on region 1. Charlie ([email protected])

You can make this player REGION FREE so all discs operate on it.

Power up, no disk in. Status says READ then INSERT DISC.
Press MENU (status reads invalid key icon)
Press 1 (status reads invalid key icon)
Press 9 Menu is displayed.
Press ENTER on the region, digit turns to "-"
Press 0
Press ENTER again
Press EJECT to clear the special menu.

If you reset (unplug) the player for any reason - this will need to be re-entered.

I have an LG LCD TV (42LC2D) & a LG HDD/DVD Recorder (DBRH197). The HDD/DVD is connected to the TV via a HDMI cable. Generally, when I watch DVDs, I change the Input on the TV to HDMI, however since...

First thing to do here is to check the connection adn if possible try a different cable , because sometimes this can only be a connection or a cable problem,, as for making it unlock so you can watch any DVD on it, there's a lot of site there that is offering that service to unlock the regional code of this unit...

Hope that helps.........
