Samsung LE40R73BD 40 in. HD-Ready LCD Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 12, 2010

I've had this tv for 1.5 years. It has 2 colored vertical stripes from top to bottom that go away after tv has been on for about 1 hour. If tv is cold, they are very prevalent. Is this burned pixels? I already replaced the cable and the power cord and tried it without anything else connect to it thinking it could be hdmi cord but nothing works. If burned pixels why does it go away after tv gets warmed up?

The board CPU still have some functions and little life left, that why it take a hour to work normally. When it completely dead, the problems, will be there for good.

The display is normally responsible for this problem, the small ic's on the flexible connections to the display have probably bad connections. These are not repairable by normal service methods - so just accept a long start-up until they go completely!

I have a 52 inch Samsung TV, on the screen have solid, color vertical lines on the right, about 1/8 wide, on the same time the half of screen blink on the right too.

not knowing the model... i will try to help with this common samsung issue, if i can. / unplug the tv, and wait a few minutes to avoid shocks. / remove back panel. you will see several ribbon connectors, (about an 1" to 1 1/2" wide) usually near the bottom. / carefully remove the ribbon (ONE AT A TIME) and clean the contacts GENTLY with a pencil eraser. (DO NOT use chemicals) / reinsert the ribbons and try the tv. // vertical stripes are almost always the result of poor contact between ribbon and socket. / NOTE!. you can do a quick test before opening the set by [carefully!!!!] twisting the screen and watch to see if the vertical stripes change or disappear. / if the stripes change, bet on it being the ribbon contact problem.//// hope this helps, it has worked on a number of TVs.------Jay

You have a bad video board. If you can find one used it is fairly easy to replace once you get into the TV itself. Your color guns could also be adding to this problem. I am not familiar with this television and its components so I dont know if you can replace one color gun at a time or if once one is shot then all three have to be replaced. That should be a start for you anyway.

Philips plasma tv vertical black stripe

Hi
If there is no picture behind the stripe and the edges are well-defined, then one of the display driver ICs has failed. Philips displays can be made by several manufacturers - usually Samsung. The ICs are bonded to the flexible ribbon in most cases, and replacement is an expensive specialist job - and in many cases is simply not possible.
A shadow on the picture is much better - usually due to interference.

Dark Vertical Stripe on Right Edge of Screen

I experienced the same approx. 1/2" vertical stripe on a Viewsonic vx1945 and ATI Radeon x1050 video adapter on Vista Business SP1, but the stripe appeared along the left edge of the screen, instead of right edge. I then temporarily decreased the monitor resolution, and the stripe went away. I then increased the monitor resolution back to its original setting, and the stripe did not re-appear. So, that was the 'fix' in my situation, hope this helps.
