I cannot get my television to power on. I have tried different outlets. The remote only. The power switch on the TV. This happened all of the sudden. The TV is connected to a HDTV power surge protector. All other devices seem to work fine that are connected to the TV.(cable box, dvr)

Hi frank, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. You need to try, what we call a Cold Start-up. What you do is unplug everything, and let it remain unplugged for one (1) hour. Then plug it all back in the outlet and start it up manually. Thanks for choosing FixYa....John

Television

Try unplugging it from the outlet for a 5 minutes, and try again. If that doesn't work - try plugging in a lamp to the outlet to make sure it works. You can also try connecting the TV to a different outlet (check fuses or circuit breakers). If you use a remote - change the batteries - or try using the power switch on the TV itself.

If it doesnt work - provide the brand and model of your TV.

The orange light isnt on

Make sure the power plug is secure both to the TV and the wall. Also make sure the outlet is not on a switch. Try and unplug and plug the TV back in. Try a different power outlet. Make sure you are pressing power on the TV itself as the remote may not be working. Otherwise TV may need service, and for this unit I would recommend just replacing it to save cost and frustration.

When pressing the remote's 'on' button tv won't come on

does it power on using the power switch on the tv itself instead of the remote? if same thing happens when pressing the power on switch on the tv directly, try to test it on another power outlet. if it is connected through a surge protector or avr, see if connecting it directly through the outlet works.

try to also check if the power on switch of the tv is somehow stuck which may cause it to try to cycle on and off and same thing on the remotes on/off button.

now if this is specific to the use of a remote, replacing the battery might help.

My tv turns on and off without touching it

First of all ensure that this is not caused by the power inlet. Many a times, loose contacts in power outlet can cause this problem. Try connecting the TV to a different power outlet. If problem persists, it is better to call in a qualified service technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation.

Why does plasma tv not come on?

Check the power outlet. Try connecting it to a different power outlet. Look for any jammed buttons on remote. Retry by removing batteries of the remote and operating the TV from the control panel. If nothing works, the power supply has gone bad. It could also be a blown fuse.

I have a Citizen C802DVD, that is dead, no power at all, what can be the problem? thanks for your help.

Instructions
    • 1. Press the power button on the TV and not the remote control. It is possible the remote control's batteries are dead. If the TV does turn on, you know you need to replace the remote's batteries.
    • 2 . Disconnect the power cable from the TV, then insert it into a different electrical outlet. On occasion outlets are damaged, and do not provide a power current. If this is the case, changing the electrical outlet connection corrects the problem.
    • 3 . Switch the television's input to a different connection. It may be possible you have the wrong input selected, causing the TV to give off a black screen.
    • 4 . Connect a different source device (such as a DVD player or cable receiver) to the television. If the source equipment is damaged, you will not receive an image from the hardware. If the TV still does not display an image, there is an electrical shortage in the interior of the TV. To see if there is any way to fix this issue, you need to take it into a local TV repair shop.

Sony Trinitron KD-28DL10U switched off suddenly to standby mid programme and won't come back on.When trying the remote on I can hear it click on and immedietly off again.Switched off at set and socket and...

Hello

In time as the Sony Trinitron ages it begins to have power issues. While this can be true of most tube televisions it's the rate and severity at which this happens to Trinitrons that makes it particularly of note. Many Trinitron owners have complained of the Trinitron set turning itself off randomly and frequently. Some sets have failed to stay on for longer than a few minutes at a time. Eventually some sets will not turn on at all. These problems grow more severe with age.

Check the power cable running from the Sony Trinitron 32. Make sure the cable is completely inserted into the power connection on the rear of the TV as well as the local power outlet.

Disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet, then plug it into a different connection. It is possible to electrical outlet has died, forcing you to obtain a power current from a different source.

Check the cable connection running from the cable/satellite receiver or VCR. If the TV is on but no picture is on the screen, the problem is most likely due to a connection issue.

Power off the cable/satellite receiver, then press the "Video" button on the remote control to switch the Trinitron 32 to the video input signal. Turn on the cable/satellite receiver and the programming now loads onto the television screen.
