Noma/Woods timers are re-packaged under other names and numbers, and appear across several brands.

I don't show a 3-button timer except for Stanley

Stanley 3 button timer:
http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-38468-TimerMax-Extreme-Temperature/dp/B0020ML758
Westinghouse manual seems to match the Stanley timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/28468_TimerManual.pdf

Woods timers and manuals are shown on page below:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html

Woods has 2-button timer N1506
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-49122-N1506-manual.pdf
Woods has 1 button timer N1502
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-N1502-manual-english.pdf
UPM makes 2-button timer
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/DT523-Manual.pdf

Write down what displays when each button is pushed, and then add a comment and I'll try to decipher the buttons.

I am looking for timer instructions for a Defiant brand outdoor heavy duty digital timer. Has option for three plugs at the bottom. I do not know model number. I can't figure out these "modes"!!!

a mode is a operation program in the computer
for example mode 1 is timer time
mode 2 is set adjusted time
mode 3 no of sprinklers on mode 4 set
mode 5 etc
the mode is used to move from one program to another and once a change is made in that setting the mode button then saves that setting
all of this would be explained in the operators manual
