I lost installation disk for mac - Lexicon Lambda Usb Desktop Recording Interface Sound Card

Assuming your is lost, sometimes you can find installation start up disks for sale on eBay. You must specify your model of mac and search under operating systems.
The reason you would want the installation disk that came with your machine is so you can get the programs that came with your mac in addition to the operating system. You might check on line, many of these programs are available for download from apple for free in their App store.

You will need some install disks to even begin working on your issue.
Your options:

• Find someone with the same model MacBook Pro and borrow the disks.
• Buy a copy of Leopard (10.5) or Snow Leopard (10.6) and use them. If you are going to buy a set you might as well update to Snow Leopard (10.6)
• Check eBay for install disks but make sure they are for the same model MacBook Pro.
• Contact an Apple service center and purchase a replacement set of install disks.

Once you have a install CD, I would recommend backing up your system by making a disk image of the hard drive to an external drive. Then doing a clean install and then using the Migration Assistant to restore your user files to the clean install on your hard drive.

Restart the MacBook from the original install disk or Snow Leopard install disk, then after selecting the Language, go to the menu and you'll see 'Reset Password', just select the user you want to reset (There will only be one in most cases) type in a new password or leave blank (not recommended) , and restart as normal.

I have never known Mac OS disks to require installation codes.

It is possible to install the OS from an image that's been generated on an external HDD as well, but you can't install the OS from a disk image that you're running within the OS. If you lost your installation disc, you can get a replacement by calling Apple.
