With an extensive use of the notebook,
some times notebook would store some static charges which
indeed will stop the notebook from powering up or charging
the battery. The procedure to remove this static charges from
the notebook is known as power drain. Performing a power
drain procedure will not effect any personal data or delete
any pictures from the hard drive on your notebook.
I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these
steps:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

Fn button is your Function button, you hold it down and it allows you to use the hotkeys that are usually colour coded the same as the Fn lettering. Stuff like brightness/contrast volume up and down. That kinda thing.

My Compaq Presario F756nr will not turn on. The blue light to the power cord is on and blue light on front of laptop is orange but when you press the power on button it comes on then goes right off.

Hold the Power button and at the same time attempt to continually press the button for the CD/DVD drive. Continue until the status lights for power, hard drive and power button stay on for 3 seconds or longer. When status lights remain on, remove your finger from power button and allow the machine to boot as usual. Enjoy.

My compaq F756NR's screen remains blank after booting up. The power buttons are on. Please help.

Remove the battery and the power plug. Restart the laptop without the battery and just the power plug. This may help. If it does shut back down and put the battery back in. If it doesn't, then please contact the vendor or a local technician. Cheers, Ravi Shanghavi

Compaq f756NR laptop won't boot.

I think this is a problem with the laptop's LCD display. To verify this connect the laptop to an external display and see if it resolves the issue. If it does then its confirmed that its a display related issue. Since the issue has appeared suddenly I dont think its a serious problem. May be just loose/disconnected connectors. Should be a 10 minute job for a qualified technician.
If the external display too doesn't come on then its an issue with the graphics card and you may need to replace it.
