Constant paper jam on Canon PC735 copier. Tried all the usual steps to removing or preventing as paper jam, and they are not helping. The problem started after the cartridge was removed and rocked back and forth to get more ink life out of it. After it was replaced, the constant paper jams occurred. Even though the paper jam light is coming on, there is never any paper caught in the copier. It does not even feed.

Most probably you took a paper sensor out of position when removing the first jams. In your unit, the paper sensors are connected to the main board or power supply board. If the equipment is under warranty, any authorized service center will gladly replace it for free.

Thanks, tried all the maintenance options including cleaning the rollers. What I have found worked very well was to bin the printer and purchase an HP model!

If the paper feed roller is dirty, paper is not fed properly because the paper feed roller slips. Cleaning the paper feed roller could resolve the paper feeding problem. Please follow the instructions below to clean the Paper Feed Rollers directly from the unit.Caution: Since the cleaning process wears down the paper feed roller, perform this procedure only when necessary and no more than three (3) times.

1. Ensure that the printer is powered on and remove any paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF).
   
   
2. Press the <Menu> button.
   
   
   
   
3. Use the right / left cursor button to select [Maintenance/settings], then press <OK>.
   
   
   
   
4. Use the right / left cursor button to select [Maintenance], then press <OK>.
   
   
5. Perform the paper feed roller cleaning three times.
   
6. 1. Use the up / down cursor button to select [Roller cleaning], then press <OK>.
      
      
      
   2. When prompted to start roller cleaning, use the up / down cursor button to select [Yes], then press <OK>. (The paper feed roller cleaning starts.)
      
      
7. Check if the paper feed roller cleaning procedure resolved the issue.
   
8. 1. Load a sheet of letter-sized plain paper in the ASF and open the paper output tray.
      
   2. Use the up / down cursor button to select [Roller cleaning], then press <OK>.
      
      
      
   3. Use the up / down cursor button to select [Yes], then press the OK button. (Paper will be fed.)
      
      
9. If paper is not fed properly, repeat step 6 up to three times.

OK. It sounds like there's something on the carriage bar restricting the movement of the ink carrier. Perhaps some ink got on the bar.
Try taking a clean lintfree rag dampened with rubbing alcohol and clean the bar. This may have to be repeated a number of times to get the foreign matter off the bar and the ink carriage.

Main lamp is most likely burned out or is shorting.
You can google it and find a replacement bulb. Not too difficult to replace. Remove the top cover and glass. Make sure your hands are very clean or use a clean cloth to handle the new bulb.
