Hi there,
I have a arcam avr300 receiver that intermittently turns off. This has happened about about 10 times in the last year or so but lately it has been more frequent. The receiver is only 2 years old. Can you please advise me on how to troubleshoot this problem? Is it worth fixing
I had this same problem with my Arcam AVR300. I ended up shipping mine to an Arcam repair center and they repaired it and shipped it back for under $200. The problems were cracked connection on the start relay and they replaced power supply diodes. Very well worth it and now I can enjoy it again!
I sent it to Spectrum Sound in Indiana. I hope that helps!

This is a persistent problem for any large component that isn't physically glued down to the circuit board. Also any thermally or physically active component such as switches, relays, regulators or power output transistors. As a 40-year veteran tech, I first saw this phenomena in the early 70's, when high-powered receivers started becoming common. A quick visual with a magnifying glass, look for tell-tale rings in the solder joint around the leads of big parts. Touch up with a high-quality solder like (%4) silver solder and a clean solder iron tip. Clean the resin flux off the joint with alcohol or flux remover.

Jeezj, I have the same problems with my Arcam AVR300. However, it will now just freeze up on me as well. I noticed you have solved the problem on your recent post. Can you tell me where you sent it out to be serviced for under $200? I've been quoted at a much higher price than that for it to be fixed. Thanks for your help.

I have a A85 with the same problem. Obtained the schematics but couldn't isolate the problem. I'll have to wait for complete breakdown.
I have the same problem with my AVE300. Did you get it resolved?
