I cant install device driver for my HP C4280 printer, it keeps coming up with Fatal error message.

go to hp.com and download their driver instead

Check these HP FAQS:

If you have Windows Vista, and the FAQ above doesn't solve your problem, you might need to update your driver/software. Read this:

uninstall your printer, turn it off and disconect it from your pc. take this link to HP and select your operating system and follow on screen instructions on installing new drivers. Hi all,

The error happens if your installation did not finish completely and you didnt have complete access and permission to the system(even though you are an administrator). Run the access denied tool by hp by clicking on the link http://tinyurl.com/5u2pg three times. uninstall the software and reinstall again. If this dosent work you will have to manually change the permissions in the registery.

To install that printer, connect the data cable (Maybe USB?) to the PC and follow the instructions on the "New Hardware found" wizard, then supply the CD that came with the printer and make the wizard look for the drivers there. When the HP install program pops up (Gray sandglass), choose "Decline" or "Not agree" to the terms of the license and continue with the "New hardware wizard" installation.
The printer driver will get installed and none of the HP useless programs.
