Remove cdrom drive

Removing the cd rom drive will not make your computer start up. Or are you saying the cd rom drive will not start up? CD rom drives are very sensitive on the disks they read. Most of them have a problem reading some of the discs that someone created on another computer. Make sure you're trying to read store bought discs.
Removing the cdrom drive is very simple. Turn the laptop over and you will normally see a screw with the icon of a circular cd on it. remove that screw then you can grab the cd rom unit by the door and pull it outl

Compaq presario 700us will play cds wont play dvds

Try to put your laptop always on flat surface. Uneven base gives angle to the already tiny clearance space for the disc. Could be that the DVD disc run coz its finer, it will spin much slower than CD disc.

Hope i give you some good observation.

Ok... my problem is that my computer wont detect my cdrom. my bios is off.. I don`t know how many cylinders or sections it has and it wont pick it up on auto? what do I do? I know that something is a...

Before the BIOS can detect any piece of hardware the drivers must be loaded. The best place to get the most current drivers is the manufacturers website. If you received CD ROMs with your purchase there should be a driver disc there also. You could load that one first just get it started then go to the manuf website.
Another thing you can check is Device Manager. Device Manager will show all of your hardware. Find your CD ROM device in Device Manager, right click on it and update drivers. This should take are of your problems.

Dell l400 problem

1.If you purchase an external USB CD drive you will not need to use your floppy discs for booting. 2. You can connect a USB CD drive to your system. 3. Your system will recognize any device plugged into your USB drive. 4. There is no CD drive available for internal installation in your computer. 5. With the USB CD drive plugged in and the windows installation disc inserted, your computer should take you through the setup program automatically.
