Have had my HP pavillion a6330f for 4 mo. Purchased printer hp 6310 all in one. Have not been able to install 2 different printers.
Receiving error: issues stopping installation print spooler , service is stopped and needs to be running for installation, to continue click fix to have the installer start the service.
Have clicked to fix & nothing happens. Have rebooted and to no avail. Very frustrated w/ system. Is this an issue with just the vista os or is it a problem with other os? Do I take it back to exchange or can you assist? Would appreciate any & all information that you can provide. I thank you for your time & consideration in this matter.

Check the way your print Jobs Spool up in your PC. you may have a totally different set up for printing in your new computer that takes two or three extra steps(such as spooling the print job) prior to actually sending it to the printer to be printed. If you have a user manual for your new computer, check the printer set up and see if it is set up to print directly to printer or print to spooling folder then to printer. Also try a different driver if you wish, I know the 2430 can use either PCL5 or PCL6 drivers... I'd start there and see if there is a difference.... the problem isn't your printer obviously its the way your computer is communicating to it. Best of luck to you.

There are no drivers for fixya but I have found a workaround by some anonymous poster
Xp software&drivers will work in Vista after a little tweaking in printer properties.
1)Install the CD-Rom HP Software/Drivers that came with your Printer at the time you purchased it. These Xp software&drivers are Vista Compatible after tweaking the Printer Properties. Reboot after installing.
2)Goto Start/Printers. Right click HPLaserJet1020 then Left click Properties. An HPLaserJet Properties window should have popped up.
3)Click the Advanced Tab. Click the Print Processor button located at bottom of window.
4)Select print processor as>>>IMFPrint. Then Select Default Data Type as>>>RAW. Click OK.
5)Now return to the Main HPLaserJet Properties window and click the General Tab. On the Bottom of that window; Click the Print Test Page Button. Finished! A test page should be printing out if you adjusted the printer properties correctly. Enjoy!
optionally you may have to disable print spooling
Quote "This did not work for me until I changed the option in that same window (advanced settings) to "print directly to the printer". Spooling does not work. "
