According to something I read in another forum:
Use migration assistant (in utilities) to copy over Illustrator 10 via firewire from your G4 to your imac. This is the only thing that might work without upgrading to a newer version of Illustrator.
I'm planning on trying it with both Illustrator 10 and Indesign 2.0 - Photoshop 7 won't go at all no matter what one tries according to what I've read. I'll be upgrading to CS3 for Photoshop. No choice.

It can not find the hard drive or the startup folder on the hard drive. Try and fix that by putting in the original boot cd/dvd and repair and choose your hard drive start up folde as boot device. If you can not your hard drive may have died.
OS X drivers for the Apollo 2250 apparently exist only in 10.5 and 10.6, both of which your iMac G4 is too old to run.
If you have this printer attached to another computer on your home network, you could activate printer sharing and allow your G4 to print to it that way.
If you read the system requirements of Sims 3, it says that you need at least an Intel Core Duo processor, which the iMac G4 does not have. The iMac G4 has a PowerPC processor.
Reastart the iMac and at the same time hold down the mouse left click button. If that does not work.
Restart the computer.
Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F. Note: The Command key has the Apple and () icons on it.
Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware."
At the prompt, type: eject cd
Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject any disc that is present, and "ok" appears behind your command when the action is complete.

The most common problem with imac G4/800's are failing logic-boards. This will cause the mac to not power up at all giving the impression that the PSU is broken.
If however, you are indeed certain that the fault is with the power supply, they are available from many stores online
Power Supply for iMac G4 15" LCD (700 & 800 Mhz) 661-3184 614-0147
Sounds like a power supply issue. You will need to take this to an apple dealer and ask them about it. This one is not an easy fix as it is a hardware fault.
Thanks for your suggestion, sounds OK. Problem is I no longer have my G4 - passed on to someone else. Your idea is something I would like to try.
Thanks again, much obliged for your help.
