While watching TV the screen suddenly went blank. Not even the on screen displays appear. Contacted Sony and they plan to call me within 3 business days to have an authorized repair person check it out. Sony customer support had me reset remote and use the TV's control panel, but screen remained blank throughout. Very frustrating. Have 2 other identical Sony Bravia LCD TV's with no problems. Any suggestions?

Power off the television. Wait a few minutes, then power it back on. If this does not correct the issue leave the power on, point your remote control towards the Sony television and hold the down arrow button. While holding the down arrow button press the "Power" button. Release the down arrow button and the Sony TV
will reset itself to factory settings. Once the television performs a scan on itself your problem should be gone.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I unplugged all cable connections except the electrical outlet, and the TV remains blank and the onscreen menu display, which typically appears regardless, also is nonexistent. I suppose it may very well be the T Con Board you mentioned. Do you have any idea as to the cost of that item, and what would be involved to replace it? Am I better off buying a new set? I purchased the TV 18 months ago, but unfortunately the manufacturers warrantly is only 12 months. I purchased 3 sets from them, so I would hope they would give that some consideration. A TV of that cost should certainly last more than 18 months!

We were watching direct tv when suddenly screen went black and won't come back on. We have no tv service period
I know Rovi dropped OTA guide updating but this TV is capable of Internet content, which it does fine. Factory power reset, firmware updates, internet wired link checked and confirmed, Streams internet content just fine. Very frustrating.
