I would advice to have chrome and firefox both install in the computer, my opinion firefox is the best if your kind of geek or tech and chrome if your more like Mac user dont want to complicate straight to the point.
There are two possiblities, the first is to reset your browers default hompage to https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=how+to+change+browser+homepage
The other possibitly is that your browers properties need to fixed. By right mouse clicking the the short cut, look at the start in ->remove any extra that might be to the right of the .exe command
are you talking about your desktop task bar.

you can reistall the chrome or use other brower. The best brower till today is opera . It is more easy have have a lots of feature .you can get it from www.rapidlibrary.com. if you still like to surf in chrome then reistall it . then it will work.
