I hope you mean FEE.

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number). If the ring has a lock, lock it in place. You control the aperture from the camera body, just as you would on a lens with no aperture ring.

Nikon D50 with Nikon DX 18-55 lens will not focus

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to autofocus and take pictures with any other lens, then it means that your problem lies with the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning. I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens.

Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

I have a fEE message flashing when I turn my D50 on. Will not let me take photo.

Is the aperature switch on the barrel of the lens all the way to the
left for automatic?
If so, the next thing I would try is to clean the electronic contacts around the lens mount, on both the body and the lenses. Make sure that you have a good metal-to-metal electronic contact.

Trouble with auto focus nikon auto nikkor 60 mm f2.8D

Lock it at f/32. Autofocus lenses have a lock for smallest aperture (highest number) because that is wht the camera body expects. The lock won't engage at any other position.

Aperture

You need to set the aperture ring on the lens to the minimum f-stop number, i.e. f22,f32. The camera controls the aperture rather than a mechanical setting on the lens

Error message

You might want to check the position of the aperture ring on the lens. If it is not set at the highest number, ( IE smallest aperture, f22,f32 ), then the camera will display that error message
