Problem: My Mac Does Not Work With VantagePoint Possible Solution: If your Mac does not work with Vantage Point, please try this technique. Please try to use "Parallels". Parallels will allows you to use your Mac home as the Windows home. In your configurations for the Virtual Machine in Parallels make sure that the default is set to use your Mac home for the Windows home folders. You need to uncheck the shared profile so that Windows has its own home directory. You can now run 10.6.2, Parallels 5 and Windows. This solution also works for Mac OSX 10.4.11 - Parallels 4 - VP 1.60 JG
Vantage Point and your computer are expecting to see a internal files the sends the ID of the unit. This file must be missing. The unit needs to be reflashed.
The drivers you want are part of the Vantage Point installation. You are looking to make sure that the drivers in C:magellan drivers folder are up to date. Uninstall VP, delete the present c:magellan drivers folder and reinstall VantagePoint Version 1.94 or 2.00. You can find these files on the magellangps.com website
OK .. you could have many possible causes. The most likely is that the magellan drivers are not installed on your computer. If you installed Vantage Point you will find them under the c:\magellan drivers folder.
Now without Vantage Point being on just connect the GPS to the computer and turn it on. Then open up the device manager on your computer and you will see a PORT COM(number). Click on the properties and see if the device driver is enabled and working.
If it is not.. then uninstall the present driver and reinstall from your computer by pointing to the c:\magellan drivers folder.
You have a problem with the GPS. It is a problem with the internal memory files. It is too complicated to fix yourself. If the is out of warranty, the Jungle Ghost at http://www.jungleghost.com/repair_service.shtml has a repair service.
