I am trying to hook up my ferrari 1000 series acer laptop to a alienware HD monitor but it seems that i couldnt hook it up! the screen is not responding on the HD monitor.What should i do? Do I need to change any settings on my laptop?

If you are able to hear the fan running inside your laptop , then it should be possibily the mother board that needs to be checked.

Monitor/LCD recognition is part of your video/display controller. Pls check your video drivers (ATI Radeon Xpress 1150). Also your Default Monitor Properties. Assuming no BIOS is displayed

• Memory could be bad
• Motherboard could be bad
• Backlight could be bad
• Inverter could be bad
• Screen could be bad

Pull the memory modules out and boot the computer if it makes it to BIOS and then beeps at you one or more of the memory modules are bad, replace one at a time if you have more and test until it breaks again then you know which to replace.


To Test the inverter and backlight hook up an external monitor and boot the computer. If it displays correctly on the monitor then you've narrowed it down to a bad screen, inverter or backlight. Backlights don't usually go out.


Remove the monitor and boot the computer. Shine a flashlight on the screen and look for a very faint image of what should be displayed. If you see one I'd start by replacing the inverter. If you don't see one the screen is bad.


If none of this worked then replace the motherboard.

If your external monitor isn't working, it may be your graphics. You could open the case and search for loose connections or components. It's difficult to say without opening the laptop. Your specs say you have integrated graphics. What kind of noises? Is it coming from the HDD? the DVD rom?

it is a sign of damage to the LCD screen. it cant be repaired, solution is buy for new LCD replacement that matches your model

possibly video card has problem .or possibly your monitor is not working try using external monitor to see if that is the problem .good luck
