Pentair IntelliFlo VS-3050 & VS+SVRS Variable Speed Pump - Logo
Posted on Dec 08, 2010

The motor will not come on everyday like it is suppose to. You can cut the breaker off and turn in on again and hit start and it will work fine until the next day. Control panel was replaced about six weeks ago because the other one failed. Temperature should cause the motor to come on. Should it come on at a low speed or the setting you have set?

Please specify whether the 'control panel' incorporates a timer (with a 24 hour cycle) or a thermostat. Your explanation seems to indicate that it should come on every day so I am assuming there is a timer.

To protect the IntelliFlo pump electronics from damage due to freezing conditions, the pump will switch itself on to generate internal heat when the air temperature drops below 40° F. This feature is not intended to protect the system plumbing from freezing. The pump will run at a lower speed than what you have it set, unless you have programmed the adjustment.
The Intelliflow pumps are great pumps, but come at a disadvantage- A whole lot of electronics.; Since the intelliflow pumps are fairly newer in the market, and you have already had the electronics replaced recently, so I am going to presume that you still are under Pentair Manufacturer warranty.
The issue you are describing remains a problem with the electronics. Since you are not getting any alarm codes, there may be in issue in the wiring or you may have a defective pump. Before calling into the manufacture, lets reset the pump to factory defaults:
The IntelliFlo VS-3050 pump can be reset to the factory default settings. All previously adjusted pump speeds that were saved will be erased. To reset the pump to the factory default settings: 1. Ensure that the pump is powered on and the green power LED is on. 2. Press the Stop button to stop the pump. 3. Press and hold all of the four Speed buttons simultaneously for four seconds. Power off the drive and reenergize. The default settings will be in effect.
If this solves your issues, then you can program the pump to operate at the desired time/speeds.
If you are still having issues, I recommend contacting Pentair Warranty at 800-831-7133. Be sure to have the date of install, the Serial and Model numbers handy when you call.

The wipers on my 2003 chevy venture are moving slowly. then, after a few minutes, they stop working, and then start again after a minute. problem reoccurs.

Usually a sign of a corroded or broken pivot point in the wiper linkage. Adds resistance and motor circuit breaker cuts out motor due to overheating. Breaker resets and starts again only to stop again. Check the linkage

Whirlpool dryer ler6620pq1 starts and dries fine..however, you have to place something in front of start knob or it shuts off. works normally as long as something in holding start knob in

There are centripetal contacts in the motor that have to work or the motor wont stay running (spinning).

CHECK THE POWER IN YOU BREAKER BOX.....
220 volt dryers have 1 (large) breaker or 2 (small) breakers (tied together) in you breaker panel. If there are 2 breakers tied together, it is possible that only one has tripped causing you to lose a phase. That could cause weird issues like you are experiencing. Try turning off this (double) breaker and then back on again.

If it's still working the same way you may have a bad motor. Check the parts / troubleshooting site below if it's still not functioning properly.

" If the dryer hums when the start switch is activated, or if the motor runs only while activating the start switch, the motor might be defective or something might be binding the drum preventing it from turning freely. "

Is their a resistor in series of the blower motor that could be the problem of not blowing air

Resistors are for reducing voltage to anything in an electrical circuit, and what you describe sounds like a motor that is giving out. When hot, it cuts out or quits working, but cools down and begins again. This is most likely due to the windings having shorted out somewhere in the windings. Some motors have a breaker switch located "inside" the motor casing.

I have a Craftsman (919.176820) 2HP, 12 gal. compressor. I starts fine the first time, it reaches full pressure and cuts off. When the pressure drops and it tries to start again, the motor lugs and trips...

Your tank check valve is stuck/broke. It's on the tank end of the line from the pump to the tank. It is supposed to close when the pump stops to keep air in the tank and let the system bleed pressure out of the pump so the motor can start when there is pressure in the tank. The part you need is CAC-437-2 and is available through searspartsdirect.com.

Assuming that this is a three-phase motor, suspect a defective motor starter (look for loose parts or poor contact condition). If the starter is equally new, does it have any warranty? Check the wiring connections for anything loose (motor, starter, source). Good luck!

FIRST: When you shut the breaker off and then back on was it because the breaker was "tripped" ?

SECOND: Does the motor run "hot"? Feel the outside of the motor casing when its running to check. ****becareful - it may be really hot****

As soon as you get back to me with the information I can tell you what is going on and what direction to go in. Thank's

Insinkerator stopped working. Cutting plate rotates freely. tHE RESET BUTTON IS STUCK IN THE "ON" POSITION.

If the reset button is stuck in the on position and can not be reset, the motor has an internal overload and will need to be replaced. Turn the power off to the motor via switch or circuit breaker, let it cool for awhile, the hit the reset button again to see if it resets. If it does, turn off the power at the breaker and leave it off. At this time, you need to dislodge a jam on the rotary vane that shreds the waste, there is something most likely stuck on the vane, causing the motor to overheat. There should be an allen wrench socket area in the middle of the underside of the motor housing, use an allen wrench and turn the motor manually back and forth, to release the jam. Again, be sure the power is OFF!!!

A/c starts after it reaches required load it shuts off and when it is suppose to start again it just humms and it trips the circut breaker

It sounds like the small valve that releases the pressure out of the main pipe that runs between the compressor and tank is not working once the tank is full and the motor automatically cuts off. You know this valve is working by the sound of a short spurt if air being released when the motor cuts off. Releasing this pressure means that the motor is able to restart easily because there is no load. If the valve is not releasing this air, the compressor is trying to start under full load which the motor is not capable of doing, hence the humming and popping of breakers due to a current overload as the motor tries to start. Motor burnout is possible if it keeps recurring.

This small release valve is attached to the Pressure control switch that switches the motor On & Off and usually has a small pipe going to it or is incorporated inside the Pressure Control Switch. If the valve appears to be working then it means that the Non-return valve on the input to the tank is not sealing properly and letting air back into the main pipe causing the compressor to start under load. Check both valves for correct operation and replace as necessary.

Sounds like you may have overheated the motor. I'm surprised the overload on the motor didn't trip first. With this overheating, the windings in the motor have basically shorted out to ground. This is why your breaker is tripping. Rewinding the motor is no longer the option these days. You can try going online to www.searspartsdirect.com
