Make sure batteries are good and inserted correctly, respecting the polarity diagram: Yes, I myself made this mistake and it must be ruled out before doing anything else.
After a change of batteries, the screen contrast can change: It may become too dark or too light. If it is too dark, you would not think about a malfunction because you see something on the scree. BUT it the screen is too light, it is easy to conclude that there is a malfunction because you do not see what the calculator is doing after you press a key.
So, the second measure is to adjust the contrast. Press [2nd] key and Release it. Then Press and HOLD the UpArrow until screen is dark enough.
A third easy measure is to use the TIConnect software (available on education.ti.com) to retrieve the device Info, and if calculator is recognized to reinstall or update the OS. You need a TI USB SilverLink cable.
Here are some more procedures to perform in the order they are presented. Please read the post till the end.
A
Remove one of the AAA batteries.
Press and hold the [CLEAR] key.
While holding [CLEAR], reinsert the AAA battery and then
turn the calculator on.
the calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared".
Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message "RAM Cleared".

Remove batteries including the backup battery for 5minutes.
After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and

The most frequent cause for this ''not turning on'' is a screen that is too light to see anything displayed. Try increasing the screen darkness. Press 2nd key and release it Press and hold the Up Arrow until it is dark enough.
Hi, After changing the batteries the calculator is restored to
factory defaults, but the screen contrast may change. The screen may be
too light to see anything or., as in your case too dark.
To lighten screen Press [2nd] key and release it. Press and hold [DownArrow] until screen is light enough.
To darken screen
Press [2nd] key and release it.
Press and hold [UpArrow] until screen is dark enough.

Below a list of possible reason for the phone not starting at all.
Faulty Battery.
Faulty AC adapter.
Defective charger socket (the one located at the bottom side of the phone)
Internal fault (mainboard, or power switch)
Go to any phone shop and ask them to test the phone with a different charger and a different battery.
They can tell what part is faulty, you can buy the replacement, and have your phone working.
