Check the sound settings of the player. It might be that you have the wrong sound settings for playing back DVD's. If you use a surround system, check the centre channels settings.
Try adjusting the sound on the tv. If you go into the "user" audio options you can select between normal and True Surround SXT. That may work. Otherwise, try playing with your dvd player's options. The problem I'm having is the tv plays the sound before the picture.
Sounds to me like your center speaker is either not connected, or somehow not working. The not working part could be explained by a failed speaker or, possibly a failed amp in the unit.
