I have Createacard 3 installed an running on Win 7 64 bit - however - you have to install XP Mode first which is free from Microsoft if you have Win 7 Professional or Ultimate (not Home). I now have an icon on my desktop that I double click and Createacard 3 loads and works fine.

What are the proper steps to take in upgrading a laptop from windows home premium 32bit, to win 7 professional 64 bit ?

First you need to know if the laptop is compatible with the 64 bit system. I bet it might not be and even if it is, then make sure all 64 but drivers are available for all the hardware you intend to use.
The 64 bit OS is of little use as there is so little software to take advantage of it as of yet. Drivers for harware is a good reason to not put 64 bit on any computer- laptops are even more slow in this development of drivers.

Start the "Windows Compatibility Wizard", and tell it that you want to install a "Windows XP" program. Windows 7 will then read the CD, and install the program, and run it in "XP" mode.

What is the procedure to install a 32-bit softwares in to my laptop(windows 7,home premium,64-bit) ?

Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.
Device drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows won't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you're trying to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows.

Windows 7 64bit does run programs that will run on windows 7 32bit, see here

How Windows 7 / Vista 64 Support 32 bit Applications

BUT not ALL 32bit programs will run on Windows 7!!! There are many programs that will run on Windows XP and before that will not run on Windows 7. IF you had Windows 7 Pro version (or upgrade) there is a program you can download from Microsoft that will simulate an XP environment to allow programs to run called "XP MODE".
Try to install the 32bit software first. If installation not succeed, it would be better if you first look into a newer version of the program you want to run.You have to consider that a newer version of your program might not be that much more expensive than upgrading to pro, and with the newer version, usually comes newer features.

Hope this help and if helpful RATE please.

You have to get 64-bit Windows 7 drivers for your printer and other accessories, and many programs have a 64-bit version also. Did you download the 64-bit Windows 7 version from Kodak? That's the one you need.
PlanetAMD64.com has good information for you and many drivers listed.

Can i convert a 32 bit to a 64 bit

You can use the Upgrade option during Windows 7 installation, which preserves your files, settings, and programs, only if you're currently running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista and you want to upgrade to the 32-bit version of Windows 7. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, you can only perform an upgrade to a 64-bit version of Windows 7. For more information, go to Upgrading to Windows 7: frequently asked questions on the Windows website.
If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or vice versa, you'll need to back up your files and choose the Custom option during Windows 7 installation. Then, you'll need to restore your files and reinstall your programs. For more information about performing a custom installation, see Installing and reinstalling Windows 7‍.

  • To install a 64-bit version of Windows 7 on a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows, you'll need to start, or boot, your computer using a 64-bit Windows 7 installation disc or files.
  • If you start your computer using a 64-bit Windows 7 installation disc or files, but your computer isn't capable of running a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll see a Windows Boot Manager error. You'll need to use a 32-bit Windows 7 installation disc or files instead.
  • Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. If you're running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista but you plan to install a 32-bit version of Windows 7, you can move your files to an external location manually or use Backup and Restore in Windows Vista.
