Cobra 29 nw ltd classic key up with out a mic what is the problem what component is bad

If it "keys up" without a mic plugged in, try plugging the mic into the radio and see if it stops. Some radios require the mic to be plugged into it to operate properly. If it is keyed up with the mic plugged into it, try unplugging the mic and see if it stops. If it does stop when you unplug the mic, either the switch in the mic is stuck/went bad or there is a wire shorted in the mic cord to radio plug. Make sure pins 3 and 4 on the mic plug are not shorted. A continuity meter will tell you. If the mic is keyed, pins 3 and 4 will show a short, if the mic is not keyed, pins 3 and 4 should not show a short. If the mic is functioning normally but the radio is still keyed up then there is something in the radio that is shorted.

I'm trying to wire a galaxy desk mic to a cobra 200 10 meter mobile

  • The Galaxy desk mic (power mic) is already wired four pin and the Cobra 200 is a 4 pin already as well. So unless someone has messed with them the mic will plug right up to the radio as is.

  • But if someone has repined the mic then follow the pinout I listed below to get it rewired for the Cobra 200
  1. Pin #1 on mic connector - Black wire.
  2. Pin #2 on mic connector - White wire.
  3. Pin #3 on the mic connector - Blue wire.
  4. Pin #4 on the mic connector - Red wire.

  • If you look on the end of the mic connector it will have the imprint of the number for each pin on the mic.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Headphones are working and mic is not working

The mics are of two types: electrostatic(cheap and modern) and old-stiled "dynamic". Old souncards were automatically switching to the mics type. Modern soundcards have to be switched manually.
In "sound properties" you first must check in that mic is turned on, mic volume in max and in all menues avd buttons find something like "mic amplifier boost"and turn it on. It's only non-standart mic tuning option in standart systems. All other problems in defects. Soundcards can be verifyed by so:
(with maximal speaker and mic volume) many times plug in and plug out any reacheable mics and headphones to the mic connection nest (hole), and listen(or recording) resulting scratches. If scratches or other related sounds are abscend(only noise), soundcard is bad. The mic problem may be in "jack left-right interconnection". This useful thing may hang some improper cards. Also that cards often cannot work with dynamic type. And they very sensitive to a manufacturer, and model of mic.
Problem may be also in configuring multimode speaker nests in 5_1(7.1) cards like REALTEC - the mic nest may be switched to the speaker output mode. Open Realtec's control center(in control panel or quicklaunch icon) and check in mic nest to "mic mode" or switch mode from 5.1 to stereo speakers.

My radio quells back when my mic gain is turn up more than about quater way

sounds like a faulty "MIC" or bad knob inside radio. Your radio may have too much gain. Try using a ordinary straight "MIC" . Some radios are tuned to operate with a straight mic. If you use a "Power Mic" it may be too much gain and cause a squeal. Impedance of the mic must be matched. If its a 500 ohm use only 500 ohm. If its an 1000 ohm use only 1000 ohm "Mics". A straight factory Cobra mic(Coffin mic) has gave me the best performance I have ever used on a Cb radio. I can talk 50 miles on straight mics.

No Sound Coming out my Microphone

i know this might sound a little obvious and maybe irrelevant to the problem, but did you press the switch on the mic? it will turn the mic on and off. make sure sound and mic are unmuted in windows volume control. if both are these didnt solve the problem, test the mic on another computer. if the mic works, maybe its not the mic that has the problem. if the mic doesnt work, then your mic may be defective or damaged in some way or other.
