Havde a bulova mens quartz with a snap on back. removed back and replaced battery. lined notch for stem but I can not get the back to snap back on no matter what I do. what do you suggest.

You should be able to pry it off, just follow this simple steps:
Locate a very small tab (or recessed area) on the edge of the back cover. Pull out the stem, which releases the back on some watches.Get a small flathead screwdriver it needs to be a thin inflexible tip. Very carefully slide the blade under the tiny metal protrusion on the back cover (or across the length of the recessed area, depending on which type of cover your watch has). Your watch has a press down caseback, you need to get a knife or watch caseback knife and look for the depression ot notch on the edge of the caseback, slide your knife up tight to the notch and pop the knife edge up like a lever, the caseback should pop off.

Pull the stem out 2 clicks the in 1 click turn stem clockwise for day and counter-clockwise for month. to set time pull stem out again 1 click, when finish push in 2 clicks
