I have a Singer 2273 Esteem II and I've only owned it for about a year. I recently began moving things in and out of my room and knocked it over in the process. I didn't notice anything was wrong but I went to wind up another bobbin and found that the spool attached inside of the machine had either been knocked loose or broken off some how. Does anyone know how to fix this? Do I have to take it in somewhere and pay? I'm only a sophomore in college without much funding, so the easiest and least expensive way is the most appreciated!

Probably depends where the break occurred. If there is still a piece of the spool pin in place, you can try slipping a piece of a plastic drink straw (like the drink straws at MacDonald's) over the remaining piece and using it as a spool pin. You may be able to find a handyman who can create an alternative. Or you can take it for service.

SOURCE: Adjusting Bobbin Tension

I looked forever to find this darn green bobbin screw. Around the opening for your bobbin is a plastic cover. If you slide it forward it will pop right off. Once you remove this, the bobbin case will lift right out. On the front you will see your green screw for adjusting your bobbin tension.

SOURCE: Can't wind the bobbin

Hi again,

Well we finally downloaded a service manual that cost a few bucks, then finished getting the machine apart, then found a small rubber O-ring that had obviously gotten hot when spinning after the tangling of the thread on the bobbin stem. You could see where the heat had melted tiny teeth marks in the ring and it was stretched out of shape. It and yours too will need to be replaced.

If you or someone you know is mechanically inclined, you will need to take five screws out of the back including a hard to find one under the foot raising lever (lower the foot), then one form the front that is under the thread cartridge, and you will have to remove the bobbin winding plate cover which is held by one small screw, and then remove a small screw from the support bar.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Singer Concerto 9217 - problem threading bobbin

thread the same way as for sewing. put empty bobbin case in bottom. close slide plate only to red button, not all the way. wrap thread from needle around bolt that holds on the presser foot (or just hold it tight). press pedal to sew. bobbin should wind. when done, shut slide plate all the way and sew.

if this doesn't work, try using a pin to push down the center of the bobbin when the slide plate is in winding position - the little catch on the bottom of the plate breaks easily and then the bobbin won't wind without a little help.

SOURCE: Brother SE-270D sewing machine bobbin won't wind

the rubber ring on the bobbin winder has probably gone bad which would mean replacing it but you can buy a portable bobbin winder called a sidewinder for around 20.00

On singer esteem ii 2273 model. My problem is the hand spinner sticks only when the needle is all the way down.It doesnt get stuck juststicky slightly. I cantfigure out where at its sticking. Any idea

In order to solve your problem, you may have to take the machine apart. The gears may have to be looked at and oiled. I would oil every joint.

Thread is bunching under fabric and I've rethreaded both the bobbin and the thread from the top multiple times.

Be sure your bobbin is inserted the correct way (this varies from machine to machine, so check the owner's manual). Bobbin tension is dependent upon this in most Singer machines.

I am looking for a free manual for a singer 2273 esteem II

Singer has the manuals for the 2273 on their support site: . The direct link to the English version of the manual for the 2273 is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1181_2273.pdf . The oiling diagram is available separately: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1235_oiling-2263.pdf . You will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the manual.

You can also buy the manual from Singer for $15. Many Singer sewing machine manuals are available here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals .

I hope this helps.

I have a Singer Esteem II Sewing Machine model 2273. I ordered the ruffler foot 086742-P as listed on the website. I can get it to fit on the machine...i think...however when i lower the needle it hits...

Are there other needle positions on your machine that will allow the needle to pass without hitting? Otherwise, I suspect the accessory you have is not installed correctly or is not correct for your machine.
