I have a Maytag Legacy top load clothes washer model number SAV515DAWW. During the regular cycle it fills with water to the desired height but then does not go through the washing/agitation portion it stops when it should begin that section of the cycle. Turning the knob to the rinse section it starts back up drains and spins the load. I have not checked other cycles other than regular.

If it has a soak auxillary switch it might be on which will cause this problem. Worth having a look before you get to technical.

SOURCE: Maytag Washer Getting stuckon wash cycle

the possibility of it being the timer is most likely..as the rest of the cycles remain ok.. if you require a timer, you can get one here at this link..(click the link here) http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=HAV4657EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1

please be aware that you will need the machine serial number in order for them to issue you with the correct part/s you will require.. parts are cross referenced with the serial number.

these diagrams will also enlarge in order for you to maintain your machine by yourself at little but the cost of the parts required... but please DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR YOURSELF if you think you may not have the technical know how to follow these technical drawings..hope this helps

SOURCE: Not fully agitating

2 things
First is that I assume this not to be a 1 piece agitator. If it was the whole thing should turn back n forth Make sure its top (nut) fastner is tight. Usually just push down slightly and turn Clockwise.

A sectioned agitator has a lower section separate fro the upper. The lower can be attached to the agitator shaft and will move back n forth but the top has teeth that engage 1 way and allow slippage when the agitator comes back the other way. This "ratchet" action (some whirlpool older models that i have seen) if it has teeth ground off or grease build up under the teeth can cause them to stop agitating and just kind of sit there.

Drain and remove the clothes,
Take the top by hand and try turn it back n forth see if bottom moves. If the top is slipping and the bottom stays put remove the top nut (turn Counter Clock Wise) and try remove the upper section. If you can get it off you may be able to see why its not turning, and get the part to fix it.

Please let me know if this helped you. Rate me with as high a mark as you can. thanks and good luck.

SOURCE: Upper portion of agitator not working

This is commonly attributed to worn agitator dogs. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

The part number is included in the instructions I provided for you. You can find replacements at appliancepartspros.com for about $5.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: When re-installing the agitator, do not over tighten. This may damage the agitator and/or restrict its movement. Tighten until snug.

Maytag washer noise during wash cycle

Check for the tighten nut to agatator is tighten. If agatator is lose it floats up and down during the wash. There is a lock ring (rubber) on the shaft that holds the agatator on, check this, if off replace thid . If the agatator is still in good shape can still use it , if not pull of and replace it. This work is't hard to do.

Maytag Legacy Series Top Load Washer model SAV515DAWW When filling, the cold water just trickles in and takes a long, long time to fill. When I unscrew the hose from the washer and turn the water on it...

From what you have said, you may have a bad solenoid in your water fill valve. it's the rubber piece under the debris screen. if you can get that out and replace it, you'll be golden.

Washer Will Not Hold Water

What height is mentioned in your manual for your drain pipe (the outlet pipe for your machine) There should be a height (before u bend it downwards into the drain) or the water will just flow out........... And do not over-load your washer.
