My PHL is installed on my MacBook and connected to my receiver. However, I am having problems with fall outs, i.e. it seems the the signal is been interupted. I sthere a solution? In reading the literature, my understanding is that all I need to do is restart my computer when I switch from internal to USB sound output but that does not work. Help! Thanks

I have a Macbook and the instructions included don't seem to cover how to install

Hi Lisa, You don't install routers. they are self-contained items that you connect to. Nothing has to be installed on the computer. If you think about it, you didn't install the Starbucks router when you used your Mac in Starbucks - you just connected to it.
The router will need to be set up and that should be in the router's own instructions.
How are you intending to use the Macbook? Connected via ethernet to the router or connected by Wifi?
Most modern routers have their set-up 'vital information' on a label on the base - all you have to do is enter your own Broadband username and password.

Apple Macbook Pro does not connect to wireless network

The antennas in the Macbook Pros have had an issue with reception due to the aluminum housing of the laptop but, should still receive decent reception just not as much as a plastic Macbook or plastic PC laptop. It could be possible that the antenna's cables have become disconnected from the Airport Extreme card inside your Macbook Pro, that the card itself is faulty or damaged or that the Antennas themselves have been damaged in some way. As always make sure you have the latest updates and have installed any driver updates from Apple regarding your Airport Extreme card. Here's an article that may help eliminate any wireless interference that may be affecting your signal strength. Apple - Wireless Interference hope this helps, if so don't forget to comment, vote, etc. Thank you.

Problem with internet connection

By "USB wireless internet" I assume you are referring to a communication card from a cellular telephone carrier.
I also assume that despite the fact that you have singled out Safari, in reality you will find cannot access the internet at all through this device, e.g., sending and receiving mail through Apple Mail, using iChat, using Software Update, etc. I say this because when Safari refuses to access the internet through a particular device, it's very rare that the problem turns out to be peculiar only to Safari. (To answer your original question, no, no special settings are needed.)
Many of these cellular internet cards come with "install me first" software for the Mac that is written badly and doesn't work on the most current versions of the Mac OS. Your first step (assuming you have another working route to the internet) is to visit your provider's website and download the current version of his Mac connection software (which will almost always NOT be the version you got in your product box). Install and run it exactly according to the instructions (they are often so fragile that any variation at all will break them), and then try again.

Yamaha reciever doesnt recognise hdmi from Mac laptop

Max does recognize receiver over HDMI-CEC.
The problem is that DVI output is for video only. Macbook won't (and can't) output audio via DVI. So yamaha receives only video signal via the HDMI connector. You can check that by pressing Option button on yamaha remote and choosing Signal Info - you will see info about video, but no audio signal present.

Macbook Airport Problems

You should check to see if you have the connection set to static or to scan. Your computer could be set to scan, and so when it recieves a stronger signal, even if it is for a second, it will disconnect from the signal you have current. You can go to system preferences , select NETWORK, go to show, then AIRPORT, make sure your signal of choice is at the top of the list.
