It sounds like it could be the lid switch, check to make sure the lid switch is clicking when you close the lid.

yes, the washer will not spin if it thinks that there is too much water (pressure) in the tub.
watch the washer carefully after disconnecting the water level tube, sometimes they overflow if they are clogged up.

You are correct, the "leak" was from the over flow, and the "no spin" were all caused by the incorrect level indication. could not blow out the tubing so I replaced it...everything works fine now. thanks for your help!

SOURCE: fixn my GE washer spin cycle

The most common reason a GE washer will not spin is that the water level tube has a bunch of goo in it. When the washer pumps out, the air does not escape past the goo, and the washer thinks it is still full of water, and thus it will not send power to the motor to spin.
Pop the front off the machine with a putty knife at the front top seam and pull the clear tube off the left front side of the outer tub. Usually it is easiest to just cut off the first inch of the tube (where the goo is) and reattach, however you may want to clean the tube end and the hollow nipple it attaches to with a thin wire. This problem is seen most often with consumers who rarely if ever use liquid bleach. If you don't use bleach very often, filling to the lowest water setting with the hottest water possible, and a strong concentration of liquid bleach, then running the washer through a cycle (no clothes) every 6 month or so should prevent the problem from reoccouring.

I cant seem to get my GEwasher to completly drain. is it possibly the drain pump? I have leveled the floor, cleaned out the hoses and it still leaves about a gallon of water in the tub, and it smells after...

Hi I just went through this with the same brand of washer like 2 hour ago!!! I found a big clog in the drain pump that would not allow the water to drain.Disconnect your hoses and clean the opening of the drain hose! I am so proud of ME...my hubby could not figure this out....good luck!

Washer will not spin

I fixed it yesterday. After checking the continuity of my lid switch and pressure switch and finding them ok I removed the tubing from the pressure switch and applied air (blew into it). There was a clog and blowing on it removed it for now. Apparently the pressure switch was telling the machine that the tub was full of water and wouldn't let it start the spin cycle. I ran three loads last night and it worked perfect. I may have to remove the connection on the side of the tub and clean it properly if it clogs again.

Water fill control

it overflows from the tub then:
This can either be a fault in the fill sense tube( small tube connected to the bottom on the outer tub from the sensor at or near the top of the washer housing ) becoming blocked or broken or a fault with the sensor itself. There is a mechanical adjustment for the level but it is a little fiddly to get the adjustment just right.

If it overfills from the drain hose:
then either the drain hose is too low and the water siphons out before it reaches the maximum or there is a tight seal at the drain hose to house drain port which will cause all the water to siphon out, this can also be caused by a drain hose being pushed too far down the house drain port.

GE Front Loading Washing Machine seems to be holding water....

The high speed spin of a front load washer should normally do a good job of getting squeezing out the water but if there is an oversudsing condition that makes it hard for the drain pump to operate then the suds and water will just stay there. First make sure there is no actual clog in the drain line then run a load with no soap or detergent and see what happens. It's always better to use a low suds detergent with this type of machine

GE Model WBSE2090A2WW - shut off intermittenly

Does the machine drain on its own or do you drain it manually? The drain pump may be jammed or seized. Try giving the door a light bang with your hand on the handle. The door interlock could be faulty. If the machine starts up after you hit it with your hand on the door handle, the interlock is faulty. Good Luck!!
