Have Epson Model NX400 all in one printer. I only want to print in black & white. No colors. I have changed settings through the menu on the printer, however I still am getting colors when I try to print a screen shot or say bank info. I don't want to use color just B & W. How can I get this to change for every-day use??

epson printers won't really print if one cartridge is not detected or detected as empty. the only option that i can suggest to you is that, buy a continous ink kit at any ink refilling station in your place. i highly recommend that dont leave a cartridge empty with ink cause it might clog your printhead. using a continous ink system's cartridge is auto reset, whenever the printer says that the cartridge is empty, it will automatically resets itself. ink refill kit comes with 100+ml of ink per color i think. and it is much cheaper using original epson ink.

Do print head cleaning. Contorl panel>right click on c66 and go to printing preferences>maintenance tab>print head cleaning>do it 3 times and then try to print

You need to clean the print head on the cartridges , please follow these steps\
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

you have to replace the color cartriges just to reset the system so that it will print again, once you do that you should be able to go into printer settings and set it to black and white only and that should have you pretty well fixed, (for a while anyway) thats what i had to do
