I had same problem and thanks to your post I was able to remove the housing screws and locate the fuse hidden under the "blue" plastic cap - so it would easily be missed by someone not in the "know".

I didn't have the exact fuse so I replaced it with a slightly larger glass tube fuse (same current just physically bigger. YOu could go to Radio Shak and get the fuse (just tke the old one with you to get an exact replacement) but I went with the one I had on hand.

Placed the unit back together in 5 minutes and wham - she works good as new.

Thanks for the tip on the fuse - I would have missed that one only because iut was cleaverly hidden by the blue plastic cap.

Saved $200 for buying another de-humidifier. Sweet.

LG LD450EAL no power

Try resetting the GFI breaker, assuming it is connected to one. Also check the main breaker panel to make sure the breaker is not tripped. Unfortunately the electronic panels do go bad in these systems after a few years of service. Try resetting the unit. There should be a tiny reset button on the back. Also if the bucket is full it will not turn on, make sure it is in place and seated properly or it will not turn on. There may be a reset on the cord itself as well, hope this helps.

EC appears and it doesn't draw water

I contacted CE North America customer service regarding this issue for same unit. They suggested disconnecting for 10 minutes, then reconnecting, turning unit on, and changing settings and run fan on HIGH or TURBO until the EC code goes away. This didn't help with my unit. If this doesn't work, there is no repair provided. Customer Service recommended returning unit to purchase location if under warranty (1 year), however a copy of the original purchase receipt is required. Suggest a call to Customer Service Center at 866-915-1212.

My dehumidifier is (6) years old. Only used (4) months a year in this climate. Plugged it in this year for the first time and the fan is blowing on high without the power button on. Fan speed control with...

My guess is something got into the controls and has shorted the power to the fan. Take panels off of the unit and vacuum, and wipe or brush, with soft brush, as much as you can. Do not use any liquids in cleaning. Hope this works for you.

Laverne, most of the time repairing a 7 year old dehumidifier is as costly (parts - if you can find them & labor) as buying a new one. As far as the problem you're having is concerned, it sounds like one of the sensors has failed. You may try the following, t see if the unit will reset itself.

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit and leave it unplugged for 12 - 15 minutes. Plug the unit back in, turn On the Master On/OFF Switch and set the controls as you normally would. Hopefully, that 12 - 15 minute timeout, allowed the electronics to reset themselves and the unit will function as it should.

Hope it works for you.

Dehumidifier' problem

1. Very few companies manufacture their own dehumidifiers. 2. Due to cost concerns, the coils are made of steel (not something like stainless steel) and will rust / corode, causing refrigerant leakage, often times after only a couple of seasons. 3. Maytag is not the Maytag of 15 years ago. They cheapend their product to lower cost, looking for increased sales, and have been bought out by Whirlpool.

I don't think it's a thermistor problem, as previous respondents have suggested. I have one of these units. The control panel has been nothing but trouble. The Power button works, but the Fan Speed button is stuck on High. The Humidity Up/Down buttons only work sporadically. Sometimes they work if I keep punching them. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when they work and when they don't. I think they're just cheap parts that have failed prematurely.

Hi,
Thanks qrx1llb3 for the help!
After carefully removing the plastic covers (yes, u need to remove both, I removed first the back one then the front one by pulling up, then disconnect the cable that joins the panel on the front cover with the electronic board on the upper right area) I found the electronic board with the blown up fuse. My was under a blue plastic cover. I'll try to replace it and see what happens! thanks for the help! :)

Normal operation, the unit has sensed icing and is in the defrost mode (compressor off and fan on high). When the ice melts normal operation will resume.
