    Hi,

I have the exact same problem. It drove perfect and then all of a sudden it went to limp home mode and shifted very hard.

This just happened to me tonight. The problem seemed to kick in when I hit reverse (R) and/or Drive. I started limping home, then restarted the engine, threw the shift straight to 4 (not D), and everything seemed OK. In the driveway, I tested the gears, and everything seemed fine. When I took the care around the block, the same problem kicked in again, and I had to limp back to the driveway. The engine was running really hot. No sign of leaks.

    Same, problem . . . same time of the month. Hmm . . .

2002 X-Type 3.0 Sport suddenly flashes "Engine System Failure Gearbox Failure and DSC System Failure" then car seem to go into Limp Mode.

Turning off ignition and back on seems to have corrected this. Any permanent solution as to the cause?

Was the cruise control on? [2003 x] this happens to me when I use the cruise control to slow down or accelerate. just setting the cruise for one speed seems to be ok, but if I use the cruise button to change speed, it goes into limp mode rather than downshift correctly. the japanesse transmission was meant to be used, no kid gloves needed. when the pedal is down, the transmission hummms lovely

2018 Hyundai H100 goes into limp mode when engine is hot

Replacing accelerator cable and gearbox cables would have no bearing on this, and replacing the fuel pump and injectors likely not going to help. Is the vehicle overheating? That is the place to start as overheating can cause Limp Mode.

Or you find a local auto electrician to connect a professional grade scan tool computer to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes and historical data. It sounds like the dealership don't have a clue. A pro scan tool can record what happens when it goes into limp mode.

Make sure there is no air in the cooling system

I have a jaguar s type 2000 it writes gearbox fault and is in limp mode funny the fan is noisy to,please help

You must have a check engine light on in your dash. You first need to pull up the code. I will assume your trans is an automatic. If so, when your trans goes into limp mode, if you stop , shut off your motor, and start again, does your car run OK again, till the next time it goes into limp mode. If so you have a bad trans solenoid. Sometimes this solenoid is on the outside of a trans and sometimes it's on the inside. If inside you would have to drop the pan, and valve body, because it's on top of the valve body. The fan is a separate issue. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Limp mode transmission

Mercedes suffer with the radiator whereby the gearbox oil and engine coolant leak in together and cause gearbox to stay in lower gears like limp mode this will also give incorrect readings on coolant so worth getting both gearbox and coolant checked i beleive they call this a glycol test??

Automatic gearbox

IT IS GOING INTO LIMP MODE. COULD BE A TRANSMISSION ERROR. THE LIMP MODE IS DESIGNED TO PROTECT TRANS AND ENGINE FROM FURTHER DAMAGE

the gearbox goes in limp mode if it detects any problem with either transmission or engine, if you have misfire in thengine, the transmission module might put it in limp home mode, have your car scanned for issues.
