Check light stays on and won't start

Mostly an engine check light remains on until an engine has started and the self-test is completed. The management system self-test cannot be completed until the engine is running and so the fact it remains on might not be significant but a code read might still be helpful - certainly a scanner would display any live data during cranking which could shorten the diagnostic process.

Otherwise it means diagnosing by a process of elimination - checking spark, fuel, etc.

8560 printer shut itself down and will not true back on

The following lists the chain of events that occur when you turn on a printer. You can follow this list as one means of determining if the printer is operating correctly. The exact chain of events depends upon the last power down condition and where the printer has last determined the printhead is positioned, this is stored in non-volatile RAM. The Checklist is the primary reference for troubleshooting power-up problems.

1. Power cord is plugged in and the power switch is turned on:

2. Power supply senses AC line voltage conditions (110 VAC or 220 VAC)

and enables DC voltages. If an overload occurs, the printer turns off the high voltage DC supplies, causing a "blink" effect on the Control Panel LEDs.

3. BIST test flashes the PE LED very briefly at a fast rate until the end of the

next test.

4. The Boot loader performs CPU initialization and RAM test. It then sends

the boot loader version to the serial port.

5. Power-On Self Test (POST) initializes the Control Panel. The Control

Panel LED turns red, green, orange, and then off. The Control Panel LCD then goes black and then clear. The POST version displays on the LCD

and waits two seconds. During this time the operator can press the Back

button to bypass the remaining POST test.

6. Low level Power-On Self Test (POST) diagnostics are performed. The

Control Panel displays status messages as each sub-test is performed.

This test takes about 8 seconds. All LEDs are off during the test.

If POST diagnostics pass, the Control Panel displays the Xerox logo and turns on the green LED.

If the test detects an error, the error message displays on the LCD and the printer flashes the LEDs with a repeating error code pattern.

7. The VxWorks operating system is initialized and engine code is started.

This takes about 15 seconds. The Xerox logo is displayed.

8. Print Engine Self Test (PEST) diagnostics are then performed. These test

the heaters, clutches, motors and solenoids. As each clutch is tested, you hear clicking with four high tones as each motor is tested. This test takes about 30 seconds.

9. The printer now runs the mechanical initialization. The exact sequence
depends on the initial position of the printhead and wiper assembly.

My HD SAMSUNG HM500JI not work any more bad sector that cany be fix...!!!

Well.. I'm SAD to inform you..your drive has encountered a serious error.

There's a couple of options..none of which you will like.

Drives (SMART) report errors, but sadly don't fix anything. Once a bad-sector has been encountered, its usually an indication of major failure (google/39% of all drives w/bad sectors major failure..etc)

Your options.. Is your data super important--if so, STOP using the drive, send it to a DRC (Data recovery Center), expect to spend $600-1k for the data.

If you've backedup, good news-- drives are cheap.. buy another, plus your drive into tthe 2nd slot, copy off what you can..

the drive itself is having a major failure (meaning it cannot relocate the bad sectors any longer, hence the smart failure)-- meaning-- drives "TRY" to relocate (when they detect failures, they'll move the data else where, mark the bad area, and use a new spot)... Your drive has probably done that.. ALOT. And now... it's gone critical.

BEST solution for you, to save $$ and time.. but a drive ($80-150 bucks)... install your os... put the other drive on the other cable, copy off what you can..and call it a day.

A DRC won't do much more to be honest... if its SUPER critical, contact www.deepspar.com and see if they will recommend you to a DRC locally to you, or do it them selves...again $$$

DST Short Status Test (Error detected)

DST stands for Drive Self Test, it means your drive is failing.

I would get a new hard drive and USB enclosure, install new drive in laptop and install windows, then take the old drive and install it in the USB enclosure so you can connect to your laptop when windows is running and restore your files, assuming the drive is not completely dead.

thanks for rating
