Since that it crashed, it is more practical that you reformat it, rather than buying new one. it is the system crashed not the whole hard disk and there is a great chance of reviving it , you have the recovery disk with you, then better use it than buying.

have a nice day

If it's 3 weeks old return it. Or you can do a System Restore/Recovery. Take a look at this forum for the Restore/Recovery Procedure: http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19441985.aspx

UNINSTALL DE A.R.C.H.I.E. Program

Though Best Buy should of removed that for you, Sony has a hidden recovery partition that will restore everything to factory settings wiping your hard drive of anything you have now. When you boot up your computer press F12 to enter the recovery manager....If it's not F12 try F11, They are different for each manufacture.

Hope this helps.

Clacking noise hard drive on HP Pavilion dv2700 Laptop

Laptop hard drives can be a bit louder than the new desktops and because you're closer may be more noticable. The sound from that youtube is about normal - this video is the sound of the heads crashing - mechanical drive failure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRj6dP1Pi1Q
Just to be safe - BACKUP your important data and if you don't have the install disks, make a set.
