I have just bought a National Geographic Full Size Telescope - 35x-525x magnification power with 90mm ovjective lens size. Is this telescope suitable for looking at birds, land sights or is it just for looking into the skies?? Thank you for your response. If this is not suitable, which one would be as I want one that looks at land distances - ocean, boats etc.?

Your small telescope will never get beyond about 100 power --- the maximum resolution is calculated as 50 times aperture under perfect conditions!

Use the eyepieces with the LARGEST numbers only and don't use the barlow.

SOURCE: easy share V1253...will not stay on...lens will not telescope

I have had the same issue were the lens would not retract. took it in for extended warranty work. lens now retracts but takes lousy pictures.

When I purchased this camera family members ran out and bought thiers shortly after I did. One by one the same issue has happend to their v1253's.

I dissmantled one and found that there is a tiny battery on the power board inside of the camera. apparently the tiny battery's life is about 1 1/2 years. This battery is not serviceable as it is welded in place. I am not one hundred percent sure if this is the cause but it makes sense.

It would be nice if kodak would own up to this issue and make good on repairs as they did with my kodak 5500 all-in-one printer and it's crappy print head. Kodak has sent me 4 print heads in the 2 years I have owned it.

I have 5 of the v1253's in my family and every one of the are dead. I would think a $250 product should last longer than 1 1/2 years.
Hope this helps you out.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TELESCOPE NG76AZ where can i get a solar filter and additional lenses etc for above 76mm telescope

Do NOT attempt to look at the Sun through a solar filter! These can crack from the heat and you will be blinded instantly.

Most telescopes use a standard fitting eyepiece with a 1.25 inch outside diameter barrel. You can measure the mount where the eyepiece goes to make sure that yours is this size, then search on eBay or Amazon for "1.25 eyepiece" and you will find many available. None of these will be made by National Geographic, but any make will fit.

The other variable will be the focal length of the eyepiece, which is what determines it's power. The power of the scope will be the focal length of the main objective divided by the focal length of the eyepiece, so a 9mm eyepiece will give a higher magnification (and be dimmer and harder to focus and find objects) than a 20mm eyepiece. It is usual to have two or three different focal length eyepieces for viewing different objects.

You will find a large variation in prices, which is partly due to the difference in quality and type of construction of the eyepieces. Kellner eyepieces are simple and cheap, whereas Possl or orthoscopic ones are more complex and cost more. There are reasons why people will pay more for the better eyepieces. Avoid eyepieces marked with the letters "H" or "SR" before the focal length.

I have a VT-50 telescope. When using the 3*Barlow magnification the items i want to see (moon) are still fuzzy. Is this normal? Also, do I use the Barlow with the other power eyepieces? from Glen, hope...

This is a 50mm aperture telescope. The same lens size as a pair of 10x50mm binoculars- slightly more than 1.5 inches.

The maximum magnification of ANY telescope is 50 times aperture, so your scope is about 75 power. The BARLOW is actually useless in this size telescope; it applies too much power. Yes I know the box probably said 250 power but it was a LIE!

Never buy another telescope at CostCo, or Wal Mart, or at a garage sale, or from craigslist unless you know exactly what you are buying.

Put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope, DO NOT USE the barlow.

Is this your telescope?

Look at the picture-- the diagonal goes in the back of the telescope first-- then the eyepiece goes in the diagonal.

National geographic telescope NG 114mm 900 EQ Who makes this telescope and would you price this at $150.00 ( used)

Manufacturer is unknown for this scope, but it probably originates in China and is resold with the National Geographic brand name, 150$ seems a little high for a used one. I would probably price it at 100-125$ depending on the condition and the included accessories, if any.

Hi ,tomowrrow am gonna buy that teleskop x525. can you tell me what i can see on the sky,any planets?

Please do not buy any telescope that lists the magnification on the outside of the box or in the advertising. These are toy scopes. Magnification is the least important factor in a telescope.

Look around this web site for a good beginners telescope.
