We have a radar Furuno 1622 - the scanner scans but sometimes we got echo and targets, sometimes none, sometime we get echos and targets on a small range display (1mile) but none on 2 or 4 miles range, sometimes we get very light echos and then disapeared ... we checked the antenna, and the cables, it seems that it get only 4 volt up in the random. What can we do ? Is it a voltage problem or the magnetron is going down ? thanks for your help - Olivier Lay - [email protected]

I know this question is very basic, but did you check your gain and clutter settings? That echoes show in short range, disappear, reappear, and are not consistent on long range sounds normal to me. Auto settings sometimes also can get a bit mad, then manula settings makes sense.

Did you run the unit and scanner test?

X band radar is not showing target echoes

If you have checked the magnetron current and it is normal, then the issue with the X band radar not showing target echoes could be due to a few reasons:
  1. Antenna: Check the antenna for any physical damage or corrosion. A damaged antenna can cause a weak signal or no signal at all. If the antenna is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  2. Transceiver: Check the transceiver for any damage or malfunction. The transceiver is responsible for transmitting and receiving the radar signals. If it is not working properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
  3. Cabling: Check the cabling for any damage or loose connections. Faulty cabling can cause a weak signal or no signal at all. Make sure all connections are secure and the cabling is not damaged.
  4. Signal Processing Unit: Check the signal processing unit for any damage or malfunction. The signal processing unit is responsible for analyzing the radar signals and displaying the target echoes. If it is not working properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the radar yourself, it may be best to contact a professional technician to diagnose and repair the issue.

JRC Radar Scanner when rotating is noisy inside the scanner base.

There is a seal on the antenna scanner shaft, just below the seal there are two bearings, thou the antenna are enclossed moisture still get inside and get to these bearings. Try and get a small amount of wd40 on the bearings, if not, you will soon begin to see false echoes on the screen because the motor on the scanner or antenna will begin to work harder causing a drag causing these echoes. Good luck.

Furuno 1942 MK2 : The radar don't show any echos on the screen.

The gain truned up and filling the screen with dots tells me the M.I.C. is Ok. Since you array fills with water, there is a very very good chance that the wave guide has given up. A good tell tale sign is that there is white powder laying on rectangular aperture located in the center when you raise the lid on the chassis. A new Array will probably be needed and that will cost you anywhere from $800.00 to 1200.00 just for the part. The water is probably getting in from the array from a bad install as well. normally the chasiss does not leak unless you did something wrong.

Hi, Furuno 1731 radar - no sweep/echo seen on screen. Scanner is rotating and other display is normal.

Go to longest range and full Gain min Rain and Sea Clutter
Do you have speckle? Yes = Receive OK, Wiring OK,No transmit (magnetron or modulator) No = Most likely a broken wire
There is a very tiny coax (shielded wire) that is know to lose its' center conductor, which is very delicate

No radar target images

Sounds like your video cable inside your radar cable. Also brings your Gain back to zero, STC back to Zero and rain back to zero. Next increase your gain until you see a picture. If none of that is working, check your cable then finally call a dealer.

Furuno 1622 doesn't work, water coming out cable at screen!

yes the cable should be replaced if you are lucky, the unit is still OK (display) Try the new cable, draped across the boat before rigging. If fault exists with new cable, replace system, or find a new display on ebay
