Goodman CK60-1C model central AC unit blwing hot air

Today my cousin accidentaly knocked off the thermostat cover (mercury type). My ac unit began to blow warm air. On inspecting the outside unit, noticed that it was not running. Makes a clicking sound when someone inside moves the thermostat up and down. Capacitor looks ok on outside. Fan works. Tried checking breakers, all OK. HELP!

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.

1 posible cause.the thermostat supplies 24 volts to the outside unit to control the contactor if you hear a ligth huming on the outside unit this is the being activated. if this is the case then
check to see if any ants are in or around the unit see video, they will usually climb to dry areas before during or after a storm and for some reason they like the contactor if this is the case cut all power to the unit and clean contactor spray the area around the unit with an insecticide ( not the contactor) replace cover and test unit. It sure sounds like the out side condenser fan has gone out.If you need to Fix a water hose to run on it like a spray fanning out over the out side coils(condenser)and try and see if it will cool.It will do the trick, until you get it fixed on week days.If I can help, let me know.>>>[email protected]

AC Fan outside running slow

The brown wire goes to the capacitor. It probably shorted out with the nicked wire. Replace the capacitor.

WE live in ND and have an Amana furnace that is 30 years old. We also have a Central air unt. OUr central air unit started coming on today when our furnace kicks on. Can you tell me why, it was 24 deegrees...

That would only really happen due to one of two things.

A bad thermostat.

A stuck relay. If the relay to the AC is stuck closed then it would come on whenever power goes through to the furnace.
This would be rare because very few units had that type of setup.

You can verify the T-stat by removinf the tsat from the wall. disconnect the red, white and yellow wires. Touch red to white.

If the heat comes on and the AC stays off, then your Tsat is bad.

My goodman cple18-1c model central AC unit blowing hot air

Ths sounds like the outside unit or compressor is not kicking in, check for power to the unit at the breaker box, or at the bottom of the contacts!

Goodman Furnace/AC unit not working 3a fuse blows even after replacement. once thermostat is turned on and clicks to start ac unit the fuse blows

3 amp is standard.the fuse is blowing to protect the transformer. It is telling you that there is a short in the low voltage wiring.Goodman also had an issue with the coil shorting on the contactor. To prevent damage.....i'd call a pro.It should be a fairly simple repair.
