Check to make sure the input language is set properly. You can check this by going to Options > Language > Input Language.

The letter u key gives me the number 4, the i key gives me the number 5 the o gives me number 6, The last 3 to 4 letter keys gives me numbers

right first off im assuming this isn't a full size keyboard with the number pad on the right.

so when you have a laptop keyboard some characters share with others, in your case numb lock has been pressed and is replacing the letter u with 4

hope this helps

Certain letter keys give me numbers instead of the letter on my verbatim wireless keyboard and mouse

Sounds like NUMlock, or another function key like that. Are those numbers on the keys themselves? That's a common problem for laptop keyboards that do not have number pads.

Letters on keyboard are producing numbers instead of letters, letter k gives 2, letters u gives 4 etc

that is the keypad for a keyboard to get back those letter you will need to press the Fn button and on the top of the keyboard where there is a list of F button press the one that looks like a keyboard. if that doesnt work try Fn and num lock

I have an Asus X58L laptop, For some reason there is a letters lock and I do not know how to unlock it. So if I press letter u it gives me 4, if I press p it gives me - and so on, unless I press Fn button

It sounds like you have the num lock switched on, most laptop keyboards are too small to have a separate numeric keypad so use the letter keys on the right side of the keyboard for this. (you should note numbers as well as the expected letters on the face of these keys).

To turn off the num lock, hold down the Fn key and press Ins. (located top right of the keyboard).

My cap lock will not let me type in lower case letters and every letter that I must hit twice will stop after my first letter befor I can go on the same with foward and back spacing

You might have enabled the Windows "Accessibility" features, i.e., instead of pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE at the *SAME* time, you can press CTRL, release it, press ALT, release IT, press DELETE, release it, to emulate the three-finger salute.

Reboot your computer, to start without the "Accessibility" feature active.

Also, try a different keyboard.
And try the keyboard in a different computer.

Letter appeared automaticcally

This sounds like a stuck key. Make sure there is nothing which may cause this specific letter to be stuck on your keyboard. I would actually try to press on it several times pretty hard as it may release the button.
Also, if this doesn't help, try to unplug the keyboard and plug in a different one, to see if this is a problem with this specific keyboard. If the keyboard is plugged to your computer by USB, try to uninstall and then reinstall the driver.

Keyboard letters all mixed up???

Make sure the "Num Lock" key isn't activated (LED Off).
Windows 2000 / XP actually saves the last "Num Lock" setting when you log off and restores it when you restart.
