Are there any colors on the resistor or it is missing. If you know what the voltage and current should be in the circuit you can calculate the resistor value.
usually 2 wires that AC current goes through. check with volt meter set to ohms test for resistance . if you know the value .of resistance ? but if the machine has power but does not run . you know there is a thermal fuse hidden .once blown it does not reset..so you can throw it away. please don't..just replace the fuse or get a resettable one Radio shack or local electronic store . it is a size of a ADVIL pill with 2 wires inline of power coming in to switch ... >^.^<
If you know the output current and mA, go to electronics surplus store and find one with at least the same amount of mA's, more doesn't matter, if it doesn't have the same plug that fits into Gizmo the take the right one from an adapter you don't use anymore and that has the right plug, be careful to respect the polarity. By the way if you do know what the current and mA are, I would like to know you can contact me at [email protected]. Thanks
The 0.1 microfarad can be safely replaced with a 275 VAC 0.1mF mains capacitor. You can remove the clip that held the old electrolytic capacitor by sliding the old capacitor out and squeeezing the metal clip so that it disengages with the plastic base. The load resistor is 450 Ohm 15W or 20W wirewound. There is a 56 ohm resistor in series with the capacitor which helps smooth the speed change and reduces wear on the contacts. A 2W wirewound resistor works best. (It is worth removing the contacts and removing any pitting or carbon build up with fime emery paper). I have repaired about 20 speed controls sucessfully with these components.
