4.on/off

  1. Switch the printer OFF
  2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
  3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
  4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)

  2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge - try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
  3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons - you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)

How to change ink in canon mx492

Replacing Canon ink jet cartridges can be expensive. On the off chance that you have a shading printer, the expense of the ink may include rapidly. Most Canon cartridges are refillable, and you can set aside some cash by supplanting the ink yourself. Refilling Canon Printer cartridges can be cultivated by getting an ink refill pack so you can refill your cartridges at your home.

Check your Ink Cartridge
Method 1:
1. Make beyond any doubt the ink cartridge is vacant.
• Many Canon ink jet cartridges have an electronic device that counts down with every character printed.
• When the counter reaches 0, you will get an error message on your printer.

2. Follow manufacturer's directions to remove the Canon ink jet cartridge.

3. Look to see if the ink reservoir is empty.
• On the off chance that there is still ink in the store, reinstall the cartridge, and when you get another mistake message, push the "alright" catch to keep printing.
4. If the cartridge is empty, refill the Canon ink jet cartridge.

Method2. Refill your Ink Cartridge

1. Acquire an ink refill pack at an office supply store or online. To refill canon ink cartridges, you need a 30 cc syringe with a needle, a thumb drill and printer ink.

2. Place the ink holder on paper or paper towels. When refilling Canon cartridges, you may have some ink spillage.

3. Select the ink. For example, on the off chance that you are refilling your yellow ink cartridge, you will require yellow ink.

4. Put the needle on the yellow ink holder.

Method 3: Replace Ink

1. Discover the opening where the ink originates from. This will be situated on the wipe region of the cartridge.

2. Crush two or three drops of the right shading ink on this opening to fill the wipe with ink.

3. Tape the leave opening with tape to avoid ink spillage while you complete the process of refilling Canon cartridges.

4. Drill a little opening in the ink cartridge with a thumb boring tool underneath the cartridge mark.

• Look on the cartridge for a letter meaning the shade of the ink, and underneath it, a hover with a dimple in it.

• When you refill ink cartridges, you need to penetrate the opening amidst the dimple.
5. Set the needle into the opening you made in the cartridge, and cautiously push in the ink. When refilling Canon cartridges, watch the cartridge with the goal that you don't overload it.
6. Remove the needle from the cartridge, take it off the compartment, and set the top back on the ink so it won't spill.
7. Seal the gap with paste, hot wax or electric tape when you wrap topping off Canon cartridges to anticipate spills.
8. Remove the tape you put over the wipe region.

Method 4: Reinstall Ink Jet Cartridge

    1. Introduce the cartridge and select upkeep on your printer.
    2. Run your printer through its cleaning cycle when you refill ink cartridges.
    3. Give the refilled cartridges a chance to set inside the printer for around 8 hours with the goal that the wipe drenches up all the new ink.

Is the "Canon check ink 1688 col" error message a ransom ware virus by Canon simply to sell their ink cartridges?

Did you buy a refilled cartridge or refill it yourself by chance?
Many of the newer printers have chips in the cartridges that keep a count of how many times it's used. Some of the companies that refill cartridges don't do a good job and don't reset or replace that chip. If it wasn't genuine brand name, it was refilled even if they called it "new".
Depending upon what printer model you have, there may be a reprogram cheat or replacement chips for the cartridges.

Refilled the ink cartridges and now get error message U059 check col ink. I've cleaned all the contact points, any thoughts on how to reset the printer to recognize the cartridge?

Refilled cartridges give a lot of trouble , I only use genuine. click start, devices and printers , right click the printer image, click trouble shooter follow instructions. Don't be supprised if the only fix is a new cartridge.

Canon pixma mp150 printer shows error E 2 7 and alarm light is on also cartridge holder is stuck on right hand side and wont slide to the left

If you are able to produce a self test print, this is good since it illustrates that the cartridges are electrically stable...if you observe any 'E' or 'V' error states (i.e. "E xx" or "V162" for example), this may indicate there is possibly an internal electrical problem with one of the ink cartridges. Refer to your user guide if E/V error messages are displayed.

Inkjet411 support page on the PG-40 black / CLI-41 color ink cartridge series: : http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2709

If, after following the suggested ink monitoring/level reset procedures, you still have an error condition which prohibits regular printing, then the ink cartridge probably has internal electrical damage (micro-electronics failure); such a failure is unrelated to the ink cartridge refilling process. Typically, when the cartridge fails the problem is 'masked' by the ink out/empty condition so it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Many cartridges eventually do encounter problems or failures, especially after their original ink is gone and they are re-used, and this is often unrelated to the refill process (i.e. typically ~2 years from original manufacturing date). Refer to picture at bottom of this page: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1533

Canon 30/31/40/41 - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2709
Canon 50/51 - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2719

If, following a reset of the printer via the 'Stop/Resume' button, printing is permitted but the 'Ink Low' indicator continues to be lit then one of the inks cartridges may be suffering from marginal internal electrical performance - a potential failure of the cartridge may eventually occur which will prevent printing.

----
However, if your printer works routinely after inserting a brand new PGI-40 black ink cartridge in it, then this will confirm root cause of failure as being limited to the ink cartridge iteslf.

---
CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from overseas) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures. We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of Canon original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested!

If you ever need to purchase a new ink cartridge(s) and are trying to cut costs, we suggest you try a remanufactured ink cartridge from http://www.inkplicity.com/ as their ink cartridges typically have the lowest cost in the USA, have a high reliability rating, come with a 1-year warranty and provide free shipping for all orders above $20 (these are remanufactured ink cartridges which have been pre-tested in an actual printer; purchases are only available to USA residents).

I am trying to scan a document, however the black ink is empty. It only shows the error message that I should refill my ink. Shouldn't I still be able to scan documents?

Must be using PG830 or PG40 50?

For Canon, if either color or black cartridge is empty or out of ink, "Scanner" doesn't work.

That's why your scanner is not properly working.

It's all connected... That's Canon.

Are you refill your cartridge by yourself?
Try "ROADINK" inkjet refill kit. No drill or sharp needles are needed.
It's not only easy to refill, you can have quality printing.

Check out my youtube video, will find how easy refill can be done.

Cannon MP220 displays colour ink vol unknown

For the Canon Pixma MP220, I kept getting a message saying "Col Ink Vol Unknown" after refilling and replacing a cartridge. After reading some of the other responses it appears as though Canon cartridges contain internal chips that prevent you from using them after they have been refilled. However, I tried a few things and this is what worked for me.

1. Insert your refilled Canon cartridge like normal, close the lid.
2. The Error message "Col Ink Vol Unknown" should still appear.
3. Use the "Menu" button to scroll to "Maintenance" (press "Menu" 8 times to find it), then press "OK" to conduct a "Nozzle Check" and a coloured test will print out.
4. The Error message will still appear but you will be able to print using colour AND with black and white. For some silly reason the Canon Pixma MP220 won't print using black and white if there is no coloured ink...

Hope this helps!

Error message U051 on canon MP460

Check the Label on the cartridge if it covers a certain area then you will get an error message. Compare it with a good cartridge the label should nearly touch the lugs at top end. Only applies to refilled Carts.
