Indesit 23 in. DV62 IX Built-in Dishwasher Logo
Posted on Dec 02, 2010

I have an Indesit DV62WHUK dishwasher and the last night the door made a banging sound when it was opened and now it won't close and will fall back under it's own weight. I suspect either a spring, spring cable or a hinge has broken. How do I check this? Is the spring mechanism in the door or main unit?

There is a plastic unit behind the door handle which houses a spring under tension. This latches the door closed and makes the electrical connection to allow the machine to work properly. You need to buy a new unit (£15) which is a bit fiddly to reach but easy to fit (2 screws)

Indesit DFG 15B1 Ecotime Freestanding Dishwasher (U.K.) won't start. Powers on.

Question edited for clarity.

It could be many things, failed pump motor, failed mainboard and as you say, the door switch. There are some ideas in the link, but you would be advised to call your local Indesit Service Agent. Try a power cycle reset.

My Indesit IDL40 dishwasher, loud bang with slight burning smell but still working?

Any burning smell is not good. Indicates that something in there is too hot and perhaps melting something. Could even catch fire......

Could very well be that whatever is responsible for the noise can be causing the problemo.

Back door won't close

you can check the lock on the door isnt in the closed position(would sound like banging noise)
with the inner door handle pulled see if you can flip the lock to open on door. lubing doors once in awhile will prevent this

I ran my dishwasher last night and woke up to a very hot dishwasher. The heating element stayed on. I have a GE GLD6760N10SS and when I close the door the element appears to come back on

This sounds like a bad relay or contactor that feeds power to the element. Opening the door most likely cuts power to the entire system. When the door closes, power is going through a relay that is stuck, allowing power when there should not be any. Follow the power line from the element back to relay that feeds it. Hopefully this will not be your control board. Relays are cheap and easy to replace. Computer boards are not. Good luck

The door springs on the dishwasher need adjustment - how do I do this?

The door springs are accessable through the toe kick. There will be 3 or 4 steps where the spring can be attached. With the door closed and latched, so it can't fall accidently, remove the toe kick panel and with a pair of channel locks move the springs (one on each side) to the desired position.
