I just got my DS lite fixed (unrelated problem, the hinge was broken) It was in perfect working condition. After about three hours playing the power switch broke off. Seeing as I just got it fixed I wasn't going to spend the extra money to fix it through Nintendo again. I opened it and the power switch plastic had broken off. I tried to power it up with a paper clip and the bottom screen flashed and didn't turn on. The top screen didn't do anything. I used a battery from a second DS that I had to check if it was the battery and it did the same thing. Both battery were fully charged. I have a second DS and wanted to test the broken DS to see if it the top screen was broken too or if it was just the power switch. Bad idea because now both DS aren't turning on, the bottom screen flashes but then turns off. I have replaced shells before and had no problem.
Tested both DS with both top screens neither are turning on.

yes check ebay for hinge axle ds lite, from what i understand their are 2 types so make sure its for ds lite, should be around £4.99 with a screw driver lol
nono no dont my ds had the same problem it will work as long your extemely careful but if you drop and a hinge missing the top screen will break and it is unfixable i have tried
There web sites where you can get a new case for your DS. When searching try using : nintendo ds lite replacement shell or nintendo ds light case modding
You can buy a new plastic housing for your DS lite on many different sites. Some are great quality. If the DS still works (despite the broken hinge) it makes sense to replace the housing.
You should be able to find enough videos on youtube to learn how to disassembe the DS and not do any harm. Make sure that you buy a tri-wing screwdriver (also called a nintendo screwdriver).
I don't know of a repair center but can offer to purchase them from you if you don't think you can repair them yourself. I can help with walking you through each repair if you think you can do it.
There is a ribbon that connects the top screen of the ds to the motherboard. It is possible that this ribbon became damaged when the hinge broke. A possible fix would be to replace the upper screen. Hope this helps.

It was a F2 fuse that blew out fixed both of them.
