Open your computer casing and look for the ribbon cable attached to your hard disk drive and motherboard. Unplug the ribbon cable from the motherboard and hard disk drive. Then put it back again the cable and observe, if the problem is still the same. Next part is to unplug the ribbon cable from motherboard and hard disk drive and observe for the sound comes from your hard drive. Try also switching your ribbon cable into another IDE ports.Normal hard disk drive usually have a normal sound but the defective hard disk drive have a mechanical noisy sound. Have a good day.

Acer Aspire one 722 windows 7 netbook. "Check cable connection" and "no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key" are two common things appearing. The computer recognized hardrive, hardr

Hello, it looks like somehow the master boot record was erased from the hard drive, maybe viral? You mentioned the hard drive was recognized in the bios correct? If you need data from the hard drive the easiest way would be to pull the hard drive out and use an external hard drive enclosure to remove the data before you erase everything from the hard drive. If you dont need anything thing you can proceed to do a new install of Windows 7. Turn the computer on then hold alt and the f10 key to perform a factory recovery. This will erase everything and reinstall Windows 7. If this doesnt work then you will need a new hard drive and a bootable usb drive with Windows 7 on it. Hope this helps.

Ace r5315 No bootable device insert disk and press any key

Open the hard drive bay and ensure it is plugged in correctly. If that isn't the problem, try testing the hard drive. If it's ok, then the motherboard is gone.

When start up my Emachine E525 the laptop the screen is blank, then after a while if any key is pressed a bleeping sound is made the some system language appears on the screen saying: 'For Atheros...

It seemed that the laptop is booting to the network to correct this
1. Go to the BIOS Check if the hard drive is detected by the computer (Hard drives are usually shown as alpha numeric) 2. If the hard drive is detected make sure that the hard drive is the first boot device 3. Save all changes and restart the computer 4. If the hard drive is still not detected you have to take out the hard drive and put it back in (reseat the hard drive) 5. Go to the BIOS again check if the hard drive is detected if not replace the hard drive

Hope this helps

Windows 7 laptop won't boot to OS , only has a black screen with a blinking cursor

Insert your system recovery disc to repair your startup.

1. Change your Bios to boot from disc:
When your computer powers on, hit F2 (on some computers, F8 on others). Use your arrow keys and move to the right to your BOOT option. Hit the down arrow until you select your CD/DVD drive. Look at the bottom of your screen, and it should say to change the option hit F7 or F8. Use the specified keys, and move your CD/DVD drive above your hard-drive. Save your settings.

2. Boot from your disc. Insert your system recovery disc and restart your computer. Let the recovery disc load. If the option comes up to hit any button to boot from CD/DVD, then hit any button. Once it loads, it should come to a spot where it wants your language. Select your language, then select the option "Startup Repair". Click on it, and let it repair the startup. If it automatically starts correcting your startup then great! If not, then select your operating system from the list and click the Repair Startup option. Restart your computer, and hopefully it will boot from your hard-drive correctly.

Hope this works.

P.S. If it continues to boot from your recovery disc, then using the same method in step 1, go to your bios, and move your CD/DVD drive below your hard-drive.
