I've been having the same problem with my Day & Night Bryant Carrier furnace that is described here http://www.fixya.com/support/t3213886-bryant_carrier_furnace_fan_stays. A repair person says I should replace the whole unit for $1800. He doesn't think we should repair the unit we have for safety reasons, which is fine if that's the right thing to do. Is replacement a typical solution for a situation like this and does the cost seem about right living in San Francisco Bay Area? Regarding the replacement, he recommends another Carrier 80% efficiency unit. Should we get a high efficiency unit?

If you are going high effiency you would have to replace outside unit as well. very expensive. if unit is less then 10 years old repair if not replace.

SOURCE: Bryant A/C issue

IF it has one its usually but not always close to the 2 copper lines on the outdoor unit. BUT not all units have a high pressure reset. LOOK inside the outdoor section for a bare looking copper "wire", It will atach to the smaller copper line comming off thecompressor. If you dont see one it dosnt have one.
If you find it trace it down to the other end and usually has a piece simmlar to a battery sometimes no bigger than a golf ball and the button is usually pointed toward the outside on the other end.
2nd question as far as Im able to tell the fuses (and again it may not require fuses as long as it has a breaker or other means of protection) will be in a usually gr\ay box usually attached to the wall. Trace the wires comming into the unit back to the power source.  And generally the box you find on the wall ois where the fuses are. Now this box is only a disconnect and its reason for being is so hyou can remove power from the oudoor section and work on it sepperately. IT MAY NOT HAVE FUSES AND STILL BE APPROPERATE FOR YOUR TYPE OF INSTALLATION as ameans f disconnecting.

SOURCE: Bryant central air unit fan doesn't stop.

This is a condenser fan and as long as the A/c unit is in cool mode, this fan will run. The only time it should shut off is when temperature setting is satified and the unit shuts off.

SOURCE: Is the Bryant 661CJ030-A heat pump single- or multi-stage?

Single stage heat pump. But you must have a two stage tstat for backup electric heat. You single stage cool two stage heat. The second stage brings on the electric heat in case the heat pump can not keep up. Wiring goes r y w1 on most heat pump tstats are switchover valve or o terminal. W2 second stage heat or emergency heat. g is fan c is common terminal.Rus

SOURCE: Bryant-Carrier Furnace Fan Stays On

Hi, you have replaced the stat several times, and adjusted the anticipator so its not the stat.This is a split gas/elect unit, and working on these for many years and looking at some of the solutions given, they are right.You need to be looking at the Furnace fan control.Units of that age they do tend to stick open and run constantly.I doubt its the fan relay, maybe if you were in the cooling mode.Fan controls are not that expensive. You probably have a Honeywell 7" to 11" Probe, with the auto/manual button, with a temp dial to set you're on off temps. I would inspect the heat exchanger for any signs of cracks or bulging being its that old. If you find any, you are looking at carbon monoxided and should be thinking about an upgrade soon.Also flame roll out.I am thinking of you're safety is all.If you do have this type of fan control, there is a tab that has to be cut before you install for 24v. control.It comes set for 120v. and will burn out all of your 24v. componants.Those old Bryants will run for years. Good Luck!

Model 393 Bryant furnace fan or motor makes noise when first starting. Then it's quiet.

https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Bryant-Furnace-Dual-Run-Capacitor/P2914553RS/2386586?ss=a36b380&mr=0

That part is probably going bad. The motor uses it to get moving and when it fails then the motor wont start, makes buzzing or humming noise due to phase loss.

On a Bryant furnace 373lav what is error code 41 furnace tries to light imonitor lights up but the won't light

Code 41= blower out of valid speed range. you will more than likely need a new motor module. they are not cheap 300$ to 400$. If you call a carrier or bryant tech out they should have a test module they carry on their truck that lets you know if its the furnace circuit board or motor module.

I have a new furnace and the breaker keeps tripping (20/30). It is a bryant westinghouse box. I think 200 amphes

1) You got a FIRE truck coming.

2) Wire is too small.
Problem is NOT circuit breaker.

3) Both 240Volt appliances on same breaker is a hazard, especially if space available in 200 amp service panel for more breakers.

4) Usually each 240V appliance has separate breaker.

5) Circuit breaker trips because of High heat on the wire.
If wire gets hot, it will start a fire inside the wall.

Electric code requires wire-size match breaker-size.

6) If you put larger amp breaker on same wire that is getting hot, then wire will get hotter.
Result: FIRE truck middle of night with folks jumping out window in glass-cut bare run across yard.

7) Each appliance has volts and watt rating on label.
EVERY appliance has label.

8) For example stove might be rated 8000 watts and 240Volt.
8000 watts divided by 240 volts = 33.3 amps
Stove would require 40 amp breaker and 8 gauge wire.

9) How to figure it out:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Color-codewire.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-a-subpanel.html

10) Do same calculation for new furnace.
12000 watt furnace divided by 240 volts = 50 amps.
Use 60 amp breaker and 6 gauge wire.

11) Summary: fixya wants you to be safe, and buy stuff showing in the ads.
Use a bigger breaker ONLY when bigger wire is also installed.
Call furnace installer, the installer should know to check safe wiring before installing.

I have an older Day & Night / Bryant / Carrier downdraft central heater. It was a heat only unit but has an aftermarket AC unit added onto it. I have the latest PCB that adds the AC cooling feature...

4 wire will not work properly.

You will need a 5 wire minimum.

Blue = common
green = blower fan
red = hot
white = furnace
yellow =AC

The wire from the thermostat to the airhandler would be like above.
The wire from the thermostat to the AC (via the airhandler) would be blue and yellow.
