I have an AEQ7000EG Affinity dryer that just stopped working. When you push the start button, you hear the click as if it would engage, but the drum does not spin and presumably the heat is not running either. When I ran the diagnostic test I get error code E5B. Any suggestions on how to repair this problem?

There will be screws along back at the top holding the top panel. Using the appropriate screw head screw driver you will have to get these screws out, lift the top panel slightly and push out towards the front. This should disengage the panel from the notch on the main body and come out. That will get you access to the console.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad. Kenmore Whirlpool Dryer Won Start Easy Fix
Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.
If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings
* Wake the washer by pressing any button. * Wait 5 seconds. * Press and hold the Start and Pause/Cancel buttons simultaneously. * All LED's will go blank and after a few seconds the control will signal the stored code using audible beeps and blinking LED's. The control will repeatedly signal the code, as long as the Start and Pause/Cancel buttons are pressed. A two second pause between repeats affords you the ability to make accurate counts to identify the correct error codes.
Listen, when you push the start button to hear a low hum, if you do hear this it maybe that your belt is broken. This is an involved job but can be done if you are handy.
I have the Frigidaire Affinity Washer and Dryer. A few weeks ago my Washer door switch went out I changes that with no problem. Now the Dryer has just stop quit working. Here are the symptoms on the ; 1>it's plug up and the power is fine 2> there is no errors on the panel 3> control operate fine. 4> close the door, set the controls, press start, No spinning. 5> when you press start you hear a buzzing sound for about 5 seconds, then nothing... Is it over for the dryer I bought 3 years with out extended warranty, or is the a simple fix? Thanks, Rob...
Hi,If you hear the hum while you are pushing the start button and when you let off the button the hum stops, you have a notor going bad.
If you can get someone to help you, open the door, hold the door switch in, while someone else holds the start button, you try and turn the drum with your other hand. Sometimes the motor will start but, this only confirms the motor is bad and needs replaced. I hope this helps.
Could be a broken belt if you hear motor, also can be defective door switch. you can try pushing door switch with finger and press button If motor does not make a sound and pressing door switch does nothing you will need a volt meter and test for power if you hear moter then its broken belt or jambed drum. Try and manually move drum
What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.
Thanks/Mike
