GE WCVH6260F Front Load Washer Logo
Posted on Dec 01, 2010

I have a GE WCVH 6260 front loading washing machine. It has a massive tear (approx. the bottom third) in the rubber door seal. All the water drained inside the unit, beneath the tub, on down to the floor pan. Question is, besides the seal, is the unit likely damaged due to the water getting to the electrical systems below the tub. Weighing the options...to replace a costly gasket, and other probable parts, plus a couple hours of my time vs. the cost of a new machine on sale. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

SOURCE: GE frontloader door gasket ripped

We had the same problem, I printed off the solution posted by john_in_erie. His repair directions were VERY acurate, however we find a few helpful additions to the repairs - 1st in step #6, the spring loaded wire, is in the front of the gasket under seal (we were looking on top of machine). Also in step #8, you need a short phillips screwdriver or a 7 mm socket with a 1/4" ratchet because of the position of the screw to get around the edge of the tub.
Thank you so much John, we could have not done it without your very accurate installation instructions.

SOURCE: rubber seal, drainage seal on washer ruptured its about 3" thick.

being 3 years old you will not be under any warranty. as far as the parts go any appliance shop with your model # will be able to get you the correct part. none of the appliance parts stores go by part number as these are constantly changing for better parts from the aftermarket then what the manufacturer used. so again just take your model # and call a few appliance parts company or even repair shops will sell parts as well.

Hi, Open the door, and with a flashlight carefully inspect the rubber boot between door and tub pulling it back. You are looking for a cut or tear at the bottom of the boot. Hope this helps.

Water is leaking from the front somewhere. hoses and fittings were dry...so it's coming from the front.

the first thing to check is the door boot seal make sure there is no tears in the rubber seal.
then you may need to check the drain pump and hoses.

Water leaking form bottom of door while draining water from tub

Check that the rubber door seal isn't damaged. The smallest tear or split will let water out. A damaged door seal needs to be replaced with a new one. I assume the water level is normal because excessive water depth can do the same thing...A new door seal is not a big job for a tech......Nomess

I have a GE front loader that leaks from the bottom, any ideas what it is from?

Is it coming from the front? You can take the bottom panel off and look inside. If the middle is not wet, it may be from a torn door gasket. Pull back the rubber seal on the machine (not the door) and you may see a big tear. That's what happened to ours. We ordered a new one on ebay and we are installing it now.
