Alpine MRD-M301 Reads CURR on the display screen. The manual says that when it reads this on the display screen it means there is an excessive current or too much current running and to find the problem and eliminate it. How do you find out where the excessive current is coming from, or better yet how do you fix this problem?

I had the same problem so i got a new amp but it did the same thing so i changed out my sub from a double voice coil sub to a single voice coil alpine type E and it worked fine so i think its the sub that was bad

You could have a bad ground or the power wire could have a short i would start there

HOW MUCH

Hello diana_soto55,

The MRD-M301 is a discontinued model but originally sold for around $250-300. A more powerful current model is the MRP-M500 that sells for around $200 and under at discounted online stores.

Hope this helps.

Negative speaker output touched chasis of amp.

check all fuses on the unit, pull them all.
look for a way of resetting the amp.

LEAVE THE MAIN FUSE OUT TILL THE INSTALL IS COMPLETE!!!

that way you wont short a screw driver across the terminals on to the chasis.

Correct settings

I am not familiar with your amp, but any amplifier performs best when the output stage effective resistance exactly matches the load resistance. So, read your 15" subs and find out number of ohms, then set the amp to that number. according to your amp's specs: if you have 2 ohm speakers, you can draw 350 watts from your amp. so purchase 2 ohm speakers
